Posted by Lieutenant Junior Grade Shaun Grecken (Doctor) in Lounge - 1900 Hours Meal Appointment Posted by… suppressed (7) by the Post Ghost! 👻 “No way. My friend Darius Morgan is a living breathing Kiwi who lives and dies by the sport,” Kate said happily. “He and I served together on my cadet cruise and he taught me the game. It is so much better than football and from where I come from that is saying a lot. What if we play after dinner,” Kate said happily. “I may be small but I am wirey.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt. (j.g.) Kate O’Neill COS : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Riss dabbed his mouth with a napkin and shook his head. “I appreciate the offer, but I still have unpacking to do. You both are welcome to partake of my previous offer of brandy after dinner while i take care of some things in my quarters, however.’ : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Ch’ethyniq, CSO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “See he wants to give us brandy, sophisticated booze that doesn’t have bat feces’s in it like your Uncles.” Shaun said with a smirk as he winked at Kate. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Grecken, CoS : : : : : : : : : : : : “We will be there,” Kate said, “but I am going to hold you for a rain check on the rugby.” : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt. (j.g.) Kate O’Neill COS : : : : : : : : : : Riss quietly nodded his head and began eating. Between bites, he said “How long have you both been on board?” : : : : : : : : : : Ch’ethyniq, CSO : : : : : : : : “Few weeks,” Kate said. “You want the rest of this,” she asked Shaun motioning at the other half of her sandwich. “Hey, have you gotten your phaser qualification eval recently. Yeah yeah I know you aren’t security but if you want to be on an away mission with me I really would like to know how good you are with a phaser.” : : : : : : : : Lt. (j.g.) Kate O’Neill COS : : : : : : Riss smiled at the question slightly. “I take it you don’t know a lot about my people, do you Lieutenant?” All Andorians (and their Aenar counterparts) were part of the Andorian military, even if just in a reserve capacity. The culture was highly militaristic, and weapons training was a part of the daily routine for all schools. Even though he was ‘just’ a Scientist, Ch’ethyniq had spent years in training with various weapons and hand-to-hand combat systems. : : : : : : Ch’ethyniq, CSO : : : : “Pardon her, she doesn’t seem to know when dinner is just dinner. Always as a kid had to have something to do, one thing was never enough. If she had her way every day we all would have itineraries of all the ways to entertain her.” Shaun said with a smirk. He knew his lovely Kate was fishing for something more, she always was. She was this rare breed who didn’t understand one thing could just be one thing, you didn’t need to make it two, three or even more in order to have a good time. : : : : Grecken, Doctor : : “Without me, you would be a hermit,” Kate leaned back and placed a hand on Shaun’s knee patting it happily. Looking back a Riss she continued. “My family is big, loud, and always doing something. I think our front door was actually a revolving door. The only time we are sitting still is when we are sleeping. I guess it was because I was raised dirtside and not on a ship. Back home we woke up and went outside to find things to entertain ourselves. I guess I never did get over it,” Kate let out a low laugh thinking about when Shaun first moved by her and she would show up at 7 am looking for him to come out and play. : : Lt. (j.g.) Kate O’Neill COS“My family was very social as well. We hosted many dinners for various dignitaries and members of state. That being said, I believe that your socialization was much more… personable… that that which I grew up with.”
Ch’ethyniq, CSO
“That’s just Kate, southern comfort in the West Virginia region of North America is often known for hospitality, big parties, out doors. It took me awhile to get used to all of that, it wasn’t what I knew before my dad flew us down and moved us in there.” Shaun said, knowing how foreign it could feel even to other people from Earth how Kate’s family and just the region in general felt.
Grecken, Doctor
“That’s just manners.” she looked at both men like they had instantly morphed into something alien. “How do you not throw a barbeque or bring over a cake when someone new moves into town? You all are the heathens,” she winked. “People naturally want social contact. They don’t think they do but they do. It is like their biological imperative and back home....we don’t fight it.”
Lt. (j.g.) Kate O’Neill COS
Riss looked at Kate with a confused look. “Actually, Lieutenant, that is not a correct assumption. There are many sentient who have no biological drive or even need for social constructs. The Gladnerusians, for instance. They only speak to one another once every four years for the purpose of procreation. Otherwise, they live as hermits.”
Ch’ethyniq, CSO
“Okay so the Gladnerusians may not be considered the social butterflies of the universe but they still do find the drive even if it is only once every four years,” Kate took a bite of a fry as if she just lobbed the current ping pong ball of the debate back at Riss. “Oh and....there is more than just cake and verbal language to be considered social conttact. Unless you are budding, you typically need at least two to tango.”

Shaun couldn’t help but suppress a little laugh in this moment. Riss was killing her, he could tell. She couldn’t take this anymore. Riss seemed to not want anything at all to do with any of her plans, he wasn’t sure if Riss was sincere or trolling with her. “We have to be able to find something in the middle Riss, for her sake she will burst if you don’t say yes to something. I can’t go back to our quarters with her pent up like this.”
Grecken, Doctor
“Pent up,” Kate looked at Shaun playing with her earring. “Really? That’s what you think? Both of you are bumps on a log. I’ve been trying my hardest to have a conversation with two men,” she laughed out loud, “which I know is a Herculean feat. I have four brothers. The only topics men want to chat about are women, sports, sex, and tell dirty jokes,” she said standing up Kate stuck out her hand. “I’m out. Riss it was wonderful meeting you. I will take you up on that drink one day. Shaun,” she said leaning down and kissing his cheek, “catch you later. I am going to go run this burger off around the track. Can’t have the chief of security with a spare tire now, can we? Night boys,” she said with a grin turning and waving to them over her head as she left the lounge.
Kate palmed the control on the turbo lift and waited thinking about the evening. Riss was a nice enough guy but he was very much the reserved intellectual type it seemed to Kate. She would have to plan better the next time to find what Riss enjoyed doing. Please don’t let it be pottery or candle making, she thought. It was then her tummy began doing things it only did in zero-G environments. She definitely needed something but had no desire to go to sickbay when she had a perfectly good doctor boyfriend that could speed up the process. Kate let out several fast breaths and re-entered the room. “Shaun, I am not feeling so well,” she said rubbing her stomach. “I think it was the triple burger or the jalapenos and hot sauce. Got anything in sickbay for indigestion,” she asked him. “You know my eyes are bigger than my stomach.”
Lt. (j.g.) Kate O’Neill COS
Shaun looked at her and shook his head. “Excuse us Riss for the evening, seems I am always on duty.” he said as he got up and left with Kate.
