“Who was the one who sent word to the Federation?!” thundered the governor.

“We are in the process of finding out,” replied his secretary.

“Now we have a complication,” said the governor. “The matter would have been settled when I have dealt with Diana. Now I must stay my hand.”

IC: In another part of the planet …

“We were contacted by the Federation,” said Tracer, entering the room in excitement. “They are sending a Starfleet ship to handle the dispute.”

“This is bad,” said Kino. “All the plans we had made may go up in smoke.” Turning to a third person in the room, Kino asked, “How are things on your end?”

“We have always been ready. The problem will be Diana.”

“Yes,” Kino replied. “Diana …”

“Where is Diana?” asked Kino.

“We have not be able to locate her,” came the reply.

“Then locate her!” shouted Kino.

The governor’s secretary came in and reported, “Governor, our operatives have lost trace of Diana. It is as if she had left the planet.”

“No,” replied the governor, “if she was gone, the strike would have easily been quelled. She is somewhere. Find her before Starfleet does.”
