Alex looked at her with his tired eyes “ well I can say it was fun for a long time but your thinking why I did this I was bored and I was dared to unroll when I was 16. I never know it was going to take long but some things in my lab I did make I will like to keep them locked up so I can work on them if I ever have free time again and I guess I will be spending my off hours in the Break.” He said just wanted this to end for so long.

Bridie shook her head. “No, the lab comes down. I want the space cleared today by the end of the shift. And I don’t want it taken to your quarters. You aren’t authorized to do that kind of work in there. You can have part of the workbench in the back for projects I specifically request and ‘A’ half locker, not several, to keep some things in. Other than that, it all gets destroyed. Am I clear, Ensign?” She wasn’t mad, yet. But she wanted to be sure he was being relegated to a regular Ensign. No special favors.

Alex was ok with the lab going away but then he remembered something “um what about my bow can I take that back to my room it was one of the things I Brought with me” he said as he slowly walked to the door to clear out the lab and to get into his Starfleet issued Uniform.

Bridie smiled. “That depends. If it’s an ornament, you can put it in your room. But that means it remains a display. If you plan to use it on away missions and such, then it’s a weapon and belongs in the armory. In which case, check it in with Security please. You can still take it out for holodeck practice and use, but not on the ship for general carry around purposes. Understand?” She glanced down at her console and began working on the morning reports as she waited to see if he would have any more questions.

Alex look at the DH “I have already had it checked by security” he said then he asked “So what’s going to happen to me”

“I know it’s been checked out by Security. I mean if you want to keep it and use it on away missions, you need to store it in Security in the Armory. That’s just how it will be.”

When he asked about his future, she smiled. “I wondered when you were gonna ask. Not today, but soon, you and I are gonna sit down and discuss your future. I think you could be an amazing asset to the Federation. I want you to consider training in computer programming and perhaps in computer Intel. What do you think about that?” She watched him to see his reaction.

Alex thought about computers and smiled. He was good at little hacks that some security systems over looked. He looked at her with a spark in his eyes “ I will like that very much ma’am”

She nodded towards the hall and smiled. “Then empty that storage room, and stow your bow in Security, and get back to work in proper uniform. We’ll take it one day at a time. Now scoot!” She shooed him out with a wave of her hand and turned back to her console. At least he had taken it well. He had potential, she just had to give it direction.

In about 30 min Alex entered engineering with the proper uniform but his top part (The sleeves) was tied around his waist he did wear a Starfleet white T-shirt And his COM badge was attached to the shirt. He saw the CE looking his way he untied the sleeves and Worn the uniform properly. He then walked to her office “ok lab clear and bow is in security armory. What now”

She laughed. “Now you go help out in the engineering space like everyone else. Find someone to work with today and get to know your ‘proper’ job. We’ll talk again later. And thanks…” She waved him off with a laugh.

Alex started to help regulate the temperature and Pressure of the warp core. He remembered how to do this from his Academy days. After a few hours he started to Branch out and help other people. A lot of people were A little confused of why he was dressed regularly and why he was not in his lab. One of the crewman asked the CE. “Um why is Dr. Alexander working with us.

Bridie looked up and frowned. “Ummm… because he’s an engineer. I recommend you teach him the ropes instead of questioning why someone is helping.” She laughed slightly and shooed the person out of her office.

A few minutes later there was a load crash in the main floor of engineering. Blaze had a mark of his face the crewmen who was talking to the CE was standing over him yelling “ I told you to run the diagnostic” Blaze looked up at him “ I was working on something else it is not my duty to do your job. How will the CE feel if I tell her you were taking a break when you were Supposed to be running the diagnostic I was helping someone else at the time I can’t be in two places at once” Blaze said as he pulled himself off the floor. Blaze Took off his glasses and check them and cleaned them with a small Cloth his pocket. He put his glasses back on “the fact of the matter is that we all are busy. Like the CE said we need to do our jobs by the numbers so how about we all get back to work” he said the the separated went back to the stations “oh and Ben if you ever punch me again you will wake up with your arms bolted to your bed” the crewmen swallowed hard and went back to work.

The Captain walked into Engineering just when the commotion kicked off and decided to hold back to see what they were going to do before intervening. If they could handle it in house then all the better. Seeing Blaze get knocked to the floor however prompted him to step in once Blaze was done talking.

“There will be no need for that Ensign Blaze. I watched the whole thing. NE Troublemaker go to your quarters. You will be confined there for three days without pay or approved leave. If you leave then you will go to the brig and face court martial. You are allowed to leave from to get food from the kitchen only between the hours of 0800-0830, 1200 to 1230 and 1930-2000 hours. Is that understood?”

“Ensign Blaze. I will talk with you in my office. Follow me.” Passing by the CE’s office Chris called out. “Blaze is coming with me for a few hours and NE Troublemaker will be confined to his quarters for the next three days. I will tell you about what happened once I am done with them.”

The left and went to his ready room and he took a seat at a table and not behind his desk. HE motioned for Blaze to sit next to him. In a calm and cool manner and with sympathy in his voice. “Hey. How are you doing? How are you adjusting. You can open up to me. I am here to help you.”

Blaze took a set “I think he never was told no before” he joked but his hand was shaky with pain fear and anger. The bruise on his face started to swell a bit and the coloring around his face was black and blue.

“I guess so.” Chris chuckled. He got up and went to the com. [O] Chef Brown. I need you to bring me a bag of frozen peas and a bucket of ice with a rag please. [O].

[O] Roger that sir.[O]

A few minutes later the chef came in with the items and sat them on the table between them and left while noticing Blaze’s shiner. Chris motioned towards the peas. “Put that on your face while we talk.” Getting up again he went to his desk and picked up a black bag from under it and brought it over. Opening it up he grabbed out some aspirin and handed two to Blaze. “This will help as well.” He went back to his chair.

“Please tell me what is bothering you Blaze?”

Blaze took the aspirin and slapped the cold bag of peas to his face “I just seem like easy prey for bullies but if he didn’t hit me He Would have hit someone else. When I was working on the warp core I was helping and re-Learning most of the Systems then one of the others told us to run a Diagnostic for him and he left to take a unauthorized break. When he got back he was expecting us to have completed his work and we didn’t and you saw the outcome” Blaze said “did the CE tell you about my DR. Status is no longer valid” Blaze did like his lab he was Abel to stay out of way of others. They joined cuz they wanted to he signed up as a dare.

“I understand now. Well I will be talking with the CE about him later on. And yes. The CE did tell me about everything about you. She had to because she didn’t have the authority to do what she did. But I did. I want to make it as clear as glass to you Blaze. The only reason why you are still on this ship let alone Starfleet is because of your actions. You may not have had the certifications that you said you did, but you were still a big help to the ship and did save many crew members lives including mine. That is the reason why you are still here. I did not do it a favor to you, but because you showed much promise and I believe that you can really be the person you said you were and much better. No one else knows this but you, I and the CE. If anyone else finds out it is because you told them, not us. If you have problems like before then let us know if you can’t handle them and we will. You’re a good man Blaze and I am happy to have you onboard. After awhile we can see about getting you a small area of your own again, but for right now, just relearn and or learn what you are supposed to and do not hesitate to ask a question. Is there anything else that you want to say?”

Blaze looked at the captain “no sir” he said as he removed the bag the swelling has gone down considerably.

Chris looked at Blaze for a moment and slightly frowned. In a older and gravelly voice. “Very well then Harry. Off you go.” He was doing his best Dumbledore impression.
