Taiya nodded as she took her seat. “Of course Captain,” she replied, a little wary of her first official order of business. =[O]= All hands, this is the Executive Officer, prepare for departure. =[O]=

She was aware that all eyes were on her at this precise moment as she turned to the NE AtTheHelm and nodded. “Helm, take her out, engage reverse thrusters, one quarter impulse, nice and steady does it,” she ordered as the ship slowly began to pull away from the dock. She said a silent prayer that she wouldn’t scratch the ship on the way out and breathed a little sigh of relief as they cleared the dock.

“Plot a course for the Klingon border…” she added as she looked across to Chris for confirmation.

”..Aye ma’am..” The helm NE said backing the ship out slowly but surely. Once underway the ship went to warp heading for the border. ETA for their assumed arrival would be just under an hour.

“Awesome! Good work Commander. I can’t believe we were that close to the border and they don’t have ships out here protecting the outpost? I did and said some things top the Commadore to gauge him and he passed. I think we’re good to go with him. Did any of you get a feeling about him or the mission?”

William took the time to go over the files Starfleet had on the area they were being sent to and all recent reports on Klingon activity near it. There probably wasn’t anything he didn’t already know but it was worth giving a once over.

Chris pressed the comm button for the entire ship. [O] This is Captain Taggart. As you all know we just resupplied. We are in route to the Klingon boarder to help other ships there. We are one of a very few of battle cruisers. That makes us a high priority target. We have orders to defend ourselves and others but will not make the first move. This will be dangerous and for that reason I am now ordering you all into combat mode. That means everyone wears and gets a weapon. Lockdown proceedures are in place. No one is allowed to go anywhere alone and that includes the latrine. I hear that their ships can cloak like a Romulans. These are a warrior race that we are fighting against rained killers that do combat as much as we drink coffee and tra. Be safe and be sharp. Taggart out[O]

It was about 30 minutes into their trip not long after the CO’s comm to the ship’s crew when a beep over at science alerted folks that something odd had been picked up closing from the starboard bow.

A check then showed it was a high energy proton scanning wave, origin unknown with no visible source. Engineering then would be showing signs of the warp field destabilizing and with a shudder the Chernov dropped from warp! The scanning wave continued to admit around them now oddly making the ship shudder and the shields flare.

Chris almost fell since he was standing behind his chair. After catching himself he yelled out. “Yellow Alert! Helms! What happened? What the heck was that?”

He then pressed the comm on his chair. [O] Engineering. Dr. Reid. What just happened and can you fix it?[O]

“Tactical. Can you or Science adjust the shields to harmonize and take this beating?”

[O]Captain. The warp field was completely destabilised. I think I can get it back. I have… four different plans at the moment.[C]
