Commodore Wesley drummed his fingers. “..Where is the senior staff of the Chernov? Are they bloody walking here?? There’s a mission to be done!” He muttered in the briefing hall.

IC: As if on cue the Captain and is entourage walked in. Chris had two blueberry slushies and handed one to the Commadore. “These are amazing sir! There is this little shop vendor thing near the port. I said to myself. Self. The Commie here.... He pointed to the Commadore and continued.... That’s you sir. The Commie would love one of these. I figured you probably get one or two everyday. So I brought one to you. Then of course everyone else had to have one. I hope we didn’t keep you waiting long. After all. This is a very refreshing snack after that long walk here. ” Chris said as he found a seat next to the Commadore and sat down staring at the man with his one good eye.

“Getting those only increased our journey time from 9.7 minutes to 10.6.” Reid sat down with his own beverage. “Plus the 38 seconds the turbolift takes to get here.”

Taiya slurped noisily on her own slushie as she stifled a chuckle. Captain Taggart was not at all what she had expected. She still wasn’t entirely sure that she understood him but he was certainly full of surprises.

“See Commie Wesley. Only about a minute longer. That vendor is an expert in his field. I’m going to get another one to go. How about you doctor Alex?”

”..Starfleet is sending you to the Klingon border to patrol with tensions rising with the Empire we need what ships we can spare on the border, you’ll check in with the defense outposts there then after two weeks return here for reassignment. It’s short and boring I know but those are how the apples fall sometimes..” He said. “..Questions?”

He turned to face the Commodore again. “You are about the fourth person over the rank of Captain to almost get me and my crew killed and they all said at the beginning the exact same thing you just said. If I live long enough to make it to your ranks do I learn the art of bulls”“$#t and lying in a command college or something? Nothing’s ever easy Commie Wes. Nothing. Will I be a dog with his leash on or off in this battle? Will I have to report to a Fleet Captain or Admiral while over there and not engage when we can because of politics. Because of weak minded men only worried about either their reputations, getting re-elected, or just plain old don’t have the stomach for it? We’ll go Wes. We’ll go because we want to help protect. Lives are at stake here as you have just said.” He didn’t take his raptor gaze of the Commadore while he picked up his drink and took a sip.

Keali stayed silent for the time being as Taggart pulled no punches. Granted, she hadn’t known Chris very long but one thing that was clear was that he was extremely protective of his crew. She took another sip of her drink and leaned forward, studying the Commodore. She got the distinct impression that there was something he wasn’t saying. “Tell me Commodore,” she mused, “I presume you are expecting more than just a check in here, as it seems that the Chernov is somewhat overqualified as a babysitting service..?” she added, following Taggart’s tone.

The mission is a simple one in scope, we dont expect any trouble from the Klingons but with recent tensions the past year or so you cant be too careful.” Wesley said simply. “..Any other questions?” He said bluntly.
