The shuttle was a few hours out Alex was reading his favorite book as a group of new ensign we’re across the way looking at him and Laughing. Alex looked up I just have his glasses and smile at the two new monkeys Star Fleet had made. Alex pulled a small ball from his pocket and rolled it around in his hand the two ensign were watching him. He then tossed them the ball and they started to play with it. He got up to use the restroom and the two were having fun playing with the ball intill the presses the red button. The ball gave off a small shock that made both of them to pass out. Alex return to his set as the shuttle dropped out of warp and he saw his new home. “It will be about an hour intill we land” he said to him self. He held up his hand and the little ball flew back to his hand and he put it back into his pocket.

Dr. Alexander Blaze (Engineer)

Ensign Yelchin stepped into Reid’s office. “Dr Reid? New engineer’s shuttle is about to be landing.” Reid nodded. “Thanks Yelchin.” He stood up and started to leave engineering. “Everyone. I’m going to go meet our new team member, Dr Alexander Blaze. He’s an experimental engineer, so he’ll be needing space in the workshop.” People nodded and went to clear a workbench.

Reid had read Dr Blaze’s Starfleet records. He was curious what types of experiments the Chernov would be playing host to. He waited outside the shuttle bay for Blaze’s shuttle to land.

Alex was at the front door of the shuttle as they opened. Alex stepped out and saw the CE and he said “Hello Dr.” as he was looked back the pilot was trying to wake the other two up. Alex Smiled and said “ they will wake in 20 min with a bad headache. You know it is hard to read when two idiots Keep laughing when your trying to read”

Dr. Alexander Blaze (Engineer)

“So we’ve read each other’s personnel files. Welcome aboard Dr Blaze. You know I’m Dr Alex Reid, you can call me Dr Reid, Doctor, or Chief. Whatever you prefer.” He waved for Blaze to follow him to Engineering. “Your record doesn’t say what your Ph.D is in. I assume engineering, but if you have any other degrees, it can only help.”

Alex smiles “Yes a few PHD’s in Advanced warp theory, weapons and shields improvements, and AI Research” he said as he followed. “ I even worked at a few star-fleet black sites.....I know you did too in the past”

Reid smiled. “Yeah. I’ve worked a few places I’m technically not allowed to talk about.” As the turbolift carried them down, he said “When you’re not doing your regular work, your assignment here is kind of as my right hand man. Keep the ship running when I’m not onboard, and if we need something… imaginative built, I’ll probably go straight to you.”

Alex looked at Reid “I looked over your numbers you been burning Through your fuel pretty fast have a new?” He asked “well I have a few ideas to modify the engine to still work well but burn less fuel” he gave Reid a pad.

Reid looked over the proposed changes. Everything was sound. It was… out there, but sound. “Hm. I’ll check this against our cargo manifest and duty roster. If we have the manpower and equipment, we’ll do it.” The turbolift stopped and the doors opened. Main engineering was busy.

Taking Blaze on the grand tour, he said “Workshop is to your right, my office is pretty much directly across the way. A workbench has already been cleared for you. For now, if you’d step into my office-“ Reid was still getting used to having an office. “we’ll talk about your various jobs, and what kind of experiments you’re going to conduct.”

Inside Reid’s office, on his desk was a computer terminal, a good number of PaDDs, a Starfleet coffee mug labelled ‘Dr Alex Reid’, and a copy of War and Peace. “Can I get you a cup of coffee, water? Options are limited down here.”
