Keali took a deep breath as she stepped out onto the bridge for the first time and had a quick look around. Although she had studied the specs for the Chernov, there was no substitute for the real thing. Her emotions were a mix of excitement and nervousness, she figured that most of the crew had not served with a Betazoid before, maybe not even met one as there were very few in the fleet and she wasn’t sure how they would take her. As the bridge officers studied her, she sensed their curiosity but she put it to one side and closed her mind off for the time being. She confidently strode further onto the bridge towards her new seat and stood at the Captain’s side.

Commander Keali (Incoming XO)

Chris was a little shocked to see his XO on the bridge so soon. Once she got next to him he introduced her to Grey. “Commander Grey. This is Commander Keali. Our new XO. Commander Grey is not only our Chief Scientist but our 2IC as well. He has been getting a lot of chair time in lately. “

Willam stiffened a bit more at the sight of the new Commander, if that was even possible “Ma’am” The now Texan accent said. He smiled politely at the Captains comment.

Taiya smiled warmly as she shook Grey’s hand, “nice to meet you Commander,” she replied with an unusually firm hand shake for her deceptively slender frame.

Once they dispensed with pleasantries Chris looked at Keali. “Commander Keali. Since we have an hour until we arrive will you join me in my ready rroom for that briefing?” It wasn’t really a question as he turned and walked top his office. Without looking back. “Commander Grey. You have the Conn again. “

Captain Chris Taggart CO

Keali instinctively stood to attention as the Captain addressed her. “Of course Captain,” she replied with a respectful nod. She took one final glimpse around the bridge as she followed him to his office.

Commander Keali (Incoming XO)

“Delightful” Will said with an awkward smile. When the pair had left he drooped back into the chair, tapping the side console to display the ETA on the Viewscreen. He really should be delighted, he was the youngest senior staff member and in a very short time had gone from an inexperienced Lieutenant to a Conn ready Lieutenant Commander. Yet it still felt odd, the stripes looked odd on his wrist and the feel of the chair was… wrong? Such things didn’t matter right htis moment, now he simply kept the chair warm of the Captain.

Kane looked up through the falling hair that perpetually shadowed his face and said “You know, that chair actually does make your butt look big.” with a flash of humor crossing what could be seen of his face.

William spun the chair around and crossed his legs, even though he didn’t smile there was a hint of amusement in his eye “Perhaps you should focus on your work rather than admiring the hind quarters of superior officers, Mr Kane” He said drily”

It was at this point the Chernov neared Deep Space K-7 when they had a hail from the station beeping at the comm station.

William turned to face the viewscreen. He tapped the chair comm [O]Bridge to Captain, we have arrived. K-7 is hailing[O] He straightened his uniform “Open Channel” He said in the command voice hed been forced to develop.

Chris pressed the com button on his desk. [O] Understood. I’m in the middle of something right now. Please handle the message. We’ll be done soon. [O]
