Snip[O] Romulan decloaked and Ens. Jackson looked to be teleported off the bridge. My gut says he was working with them, Skipper. Too damn helpful, too damn ineffective on his ‘tests’. [O]
[O] Follow them at long sensor range, it could be a trap. [O]
Captain Chris Taggart CO
The ready room doors whooshed open and Stovik stepped out, his piercing eyes flicking over the bridge quickly.”Report.” He ordered. The Romulans had to have had a reason for choosing to decloak and then vanishing. They had gotten whatever they had come for..most likely.
Commander Stovik
Kane looked at Stovik. “Ran a diagnostic on the sensor console. Just as it completed, we pinged a Romulan Warbird 200 meters off the bow. They decloaked, grabbed Jackson, and took off. Jackson was running sensors. He was the one who kept things slow while being all up in it. As I said, I think they grabbed their guy and left. Either that, or the suggestion of running a full diagnostic on the panel Jackson was on and then him being grabbed by a ship we should have picked up earlier is coincidence. And you know how often those happen, right?”
Kane, Tac / Med
“Indeed. Scan for tachyons and any ion trail.” He knew that the likelihood of finding a trail was slim. Romulan cloaking technology had come a long way to overcoming that particular weakness.
On the main view screen the ship appeared to shimmer and then disappear into nothing, sensor’s dropped the ship and could not detect anything further. The ship was simply gone. Sensor sweeps did not show any warp train or Ion trail. The last known course of the ship was in the direction away from the Chernov’s location.
“Son of a.....”
Admiral Beymer walked on to the bridge, “Captain did they respond to our hail’s?”
GM
Chris ran his hand through his black curly hair and let out a long sigh. “To be honest Admiral, they didn’t respond to the hail because I forgot to order it. This mission is bigger than one man. We will resume course to Old Vulcan. Keep shields up. I don’t want this to happen again. Fire a long range probe in the Romulans direction of travel. Once this is over then we will see about getting our man back. Lt. Kane. Make it so please. “
Captain Chris Taggart CO
Stovik frowned as he looked back at the Captain and Admiral, “What would they wish with a Science officer? We have not briefed the bridge crew on the exact details of the mission as of yet. He would know nothing other then we were going to Old Vulcan.” His eyes were hooded as he tried to see the logic in the Romulans actions.
Commander Stovik
“Mmmmn.” Chris was in thought. “You know cap....commander Stovik you are right. Why would they take him over someone else? Doesn’t make sense. What Kane said makes sense and he’s usually never wrong when his gut is telling him something. “
The Helmsman after pushing several buttons “Course corrected Captain, enroute to Vulcan… ETA appears to be four hours at this point sir.”
“Excellent.” Chris said as he listened.
A science officer piped up “Sir long range scanners are picking up high levels of debris in the area that we are proceeding, it could be difficult to maneuver in the debris field.” The officer’s hands moved on the console “We appear to be to far out for visual sir”
GM
Ensign Deggur entered the bridge, getting a few looks as he did so. He walked over to the Science station and relieved the on duty officer, who was happy to leave the bridge, especially when he caught the size of the Ensign. Deggur smirked to himself. It was strange that most of his crewmates were a little frightened of him, but so much the better. He wasn’t here to make friends. He had a job to do.
“Very well. Once we get into visual range then let me know what you see. Also plot a couple courses around and through the debris field. Just in case. ”
Captain Chris Taggart CO
Stovik was about to answer Taggart’s musings when a call came in from Engineering.
=^= Engineering to Captain Taggart, could you and Commander Stovik drop by if you have a moment? =^=Stovik’s brows lowered a moment as he contemplated why the CE would be contacting them. Something wrong with the engines? But then why did he not say what that was over the comms?
Commander Stovik
Chris nodded to Stovik. [O] On our way chief. [O] “Lt Grey. You have the Conn.”
With that Chris went to the lift.
Captain Chris Taggart CO
Stovik followed Taggart quietly into the lift without a word.
Commander Stovik
William opened his mouth to voice his surprise but decided to keep quiet and simply nod. He moved to the center of the bridge, standing next to the Big chair instead of sitting down, carefully reading the display.
Deggur piped up as the Captain and Commander left. “So where’s Jackson? Isn’t this his shift?”
-Ensign Deggur, Science
Kane glared Deggur a moment and then said “Jackson transferred. Didn’t you hear?” and went back to trying to find the Romulans.
Kane, Tac / Med
The rather large Orion just smiled, baring his sharpened canines. It didn’t matter anyway. His job was to man one of the science stations. He would focus on that.
Will frowned at Kane “You keep jumping to conclusions, don’t let suspicions guide your theory. Innocent until proven guilty” His voice and posture even tenser than usual.
A NE security officer came running onto the bridge and went straight to the Admiral and gave him a sheet of paper. Once the Admiral gave it back he went to the command chair and motioned for Kane to come to Grey and handed them the paper.
The note reads:
Admiral.
Go get the Vulcans out of their room and go to a turbo lift and tell them not to talk about anything mission related to themselves or you while you or them are in your quarters, the bridge, conference room 1, the captain’s ready room or the War room. We believe there are listening devices on the ship.Commander Grey and Lt Kane:
Set a new course to the East side of Old Vulcan in secret. Then Grey I want you to tell Kane out loud that we are going to the South end because that’s where we believe the allspark thing is at.Captain Chris Taggart
Captain Chris Taggart CO“Thank you” Will gave the security officer a friendly smile as he read over the note “Alright, Thank you, Admiral” The Scientist maintained his composure despite the situation. He placed the paper in Kane’s hand, barely managing to stop a tremor in his own “Additional orders: Helm adjust your heading for the southern pole of Old Vulcan” He hesitated “Well where the southern pole presumably was” His tone was entirely devoid of humor. He moved next to the helmsman and looked over his console and with a smile tapped a simple message on his screen ‘East not south - no Questions’ After this mission I don’t think I’ll ever leave my lab again He thought to himselves.
CSO
Kane read the note and then looked at Grey and said with his characteristic snarl “And? I swear man, how many times do I have to tell you I don’t care about who is ordering what? Just let me do my job.” but he shoved the note down deep in his pocket. “Scanning former south pole region. As if I needed a love note to tell me to do that.” he growled and began using the tactical station to try and see what lay ahead in the former eastern region of Old Vulcan, but surreptitiously keeping his body between the display and anyone passing by.
Kane, Tac / Med
Deggur noticed the passing of notes and realized that something rather strange was going on. Between Jackson’s disappearance, transfer or not, the sudden call to come to the bridge and replace him, and the notes, the Orion was starting to get suspicious. He decided that it was in his best interest to focus on the sensors for now. If it was important for him to know exactly what was going on, he was sure they would inform him. I think, he mused to himself, hoping that they wouldn’t be suspicious of him as well.
-Ensign Deggur, Science
William turned around and put his arms behind his back in a calm manner “Technically you do need a note, new orders are new orders” The Scientist smiled politely at his coworker as he made his way back to the center of the bridge “In any case let’s have everything prepped and ready by the time we arrive. Sensor crews get to work, let’s make sure we know everything there is to know about his place of true tragedy” The young man said turning back around.
CSO
“Yes, sir!” the Orion bellowed, perhaps too eagerly, as he moved to prepare the sensors. He did love it when he had a purpose, something to do that would help out in the situation…
