The three Vulcans moved to the table, prior to pulling out the chairs they all three bowed. As they took their chairs allowing for the Captain and XO to be seated towards the head of the table. The steward entered and set the pot on the table, Mulvas reached out and took the pot, placing the tea in a ornate gold colored tea ball, he then began slowly dipping the tea ball in the hot water, looking up “there are limited quantities left of our traditional spiced tea, only those in personal reserves are left.” after dipping the ball exactly 83 times Mulvas carefully poured each person a cup of the tea. T’suth finally spoke breaking what could have been a deafening silence. Her voice was high in note but pleasant.

“With the destruction of our homeworld we have collected data on how many of our people have survived. With transports and other missions off world we currently believe that there are 18,000 Vulcans left in the entire universe. Every Vulcan is now important to the survival of our race. It is estimated that the majority of the surviving Vulcans are either Pre Pon Far or of a suitable fertility age. With this we believe that there is hope of rebuilding our people. Buried deep inside the High Command Complex was a vault that contained every piece of information that has ever been found by the High Command. This vault was made of a rare extremely strong alloy which we believe has survived the destruction of our world. But there are some complications....”

Stovik winced inwardly as he felt a pang of guilt at never having sired a child. At his age pon far was a much less frequent occurrence and for him it had never really reasserted itself after his two time travelling experience. It was if his molecular structural had been altered irrevocably. He had never had the curiosity to study the reasons for it further. “Pieces of information such as? “ he asked curiously.

The three Vulcans looked at one another, “Simply as stated, every sensor scan or record from the entire history of Vulcan. Approximately 400 Years ago a Teraform mission was undertaken by the Command in order to create a ‘second Vulcan’. We are not sure what the goal is, but there may very well be a planet that is almost identical to our world hidden in the stars. The information that is contained in these records is highly sensitive. The main reason that we requested you Captain to become the XO is so that you could lead the Away Teams and help preserve the integrity of the information.”

OOC: I’ll wait to answer this in case Phil has any changes to make. Heh Miriam is quite correct in that in this era the CO quite often led the away teams. Or at least Kirk did, I am not entirely sure if this was a blanket move by all CO’s at the time. Phil could easily just decide Kirk is an aberration:)

OOC: Spock reminded Kirk multiple times that regulations recommended against this. In Enterprise Tvol mentions that that Vulcan Captains would not lead a Away Mission as it is illlogical to put the Captain at risk.. I only makes sense the Vulcans feel this way.

“Logical. So we are to go to Old Vulcan and find this data.” He stated summing up the mission parameters. “We can do so. Would you like to conduct the Command change over on the bridge before we depart, Admiral?”

Captain Stovik

The Admiral paused, “There are other factors that you need to be aware of. The High Command has not released information on this,” Admiral Beymer looked directly at the Vulcans “but it has been long suspected that there is a link of some sort between the Vulcans and the Romulans. Long range surveillance of the area detected a de-cloaked Romulan ship in the containment area. The Orions have also been poking around hoping to find something of value in the area. We are not sure what the Romulan’s or the Orions will do once we are in the area.”

Chris let out a slight chuckle. “This just keeps getting better and better. You say that there is a de-cloaked Romulan ship in the area and you say that the Orions are there? How do you know that and what kind of ships do they have? If they are powerful battle cruisers like ours then it can be a stalemate. Unless the Romulans and Orions pack together which is unlikely. We can stop along the way and refit our ship. There is also that secret base from our last mission with Starfleet Intelligence. They should have a cloaking device that we use. “

Commander Chris Taggart XO

Stovik remained quiet and let Taggart speak, since he would be taking over as CO he would need to ask these questions. He was quite impressed that his XO had caught on to the nuances so quickly.

Captain Stovik

Admiral Beymer shook his head, it was all good thoughts but unfortunately the Commander was not considering the political environment that needed to be maintained. Nor was he considering the fact that he had just revealed the existence of a classified instillation in front of the Vulcan Government “Commander first of all Im not aware of any ‘secret base’ that you are stating. Second of all it has been the policy of Star Fleet that Cloaking devices are not authorized on Star Fleet Vessels. While I applaud your gusto, if your plan is to simply go loaded for bear and start a fight that would not be acceptable. We have in place long range sensor’s in the area in order to monitor the debris fields. The Romulan ship only decloaked for a few moments, the fact is we don’t know for sure what type of ships they have.”

Chris sighed running his fingers through his raven black hair. “Maybe I didn’t myself clear enough or stated what I was thinking wrongly. I only suggested the “base”… he did air quotes....”because as far as I’m concerned this is a secret Vulcan mission and not one sanctioned by Starfleet. Considering the huge amounts of secrecy and that the Vulcan delegation here are dictating every aspect of this mission so far. No offense Captain and you three. “

“Secondly my gusto as you put it is not to go to bear down on the enemy to start a war. It is to prevent one, at all times. This is a battle cruiser Admiral. We are supposed to be loaded to bear at all times. “

“Thirdly, I thought there was an Orion at the Academy? But I will defend Starfleets mission, this ship and her crew with everything that I have and that Starfleet has provided me with like weapons and training. “

“Fourthly, if that’s a thing, how do the Orions know about your Vulcan Transformer All Spark thing? I understand how the Romulans do because of the Vulcan and Romulan bond?”

OOC: I mention the Orion ally because in the first J.J. Abrams movie there was a green lady in the Academy that Kirk messed with and she was a cadet. So I’m confused.

OOC: According to the screenwriters Gaila (The Orion Cadet) Was an escaped slave girl. According to what limited background info we have it is safe to assume the Orions are still the same force there as in the Main Verse. Apologies for butting in.
