Chris turned around in the chair and looked at the CSO, wincing a bit from the pain. “Mr. Grey. I just told comms the new hail message for distress. With these bodies and a quarter of our ship floating around us, There will be no bluffing. You might not have heard me since you were busy with your tasks. That’s alright. But no to the probe. Firing one out to them might provoke them. They might think we were firing on them. No. Mr. Grey. They have us by the balls on this one. We can only hope they are friendly. Nothing else we can do. I have ordered the arming of every available person. That might help in case of boarding. What other ways can you manipulate a probe? Turn one into a bomb to destroy this ship or theirs?”

Commander Chris Taggart XO

“Yes, sir, sorry sir. I was… distracted” The young scientist shook his head and looked back at the Commander “They would be able to detect Photon torpedoes attached to a probe and dismantle it fairly easily if we assume they have any type of sensors. I don’t think we have the launch capabilities to shoot or control one beyond pushing it out and have it send a recurring message.” He seemed more focused on the task at hand now that he had a singular task to focus on “I’m no weapons expert but our Mark III Torpedoes could fit inside a gutted Shuttlecraft, With proper shielding or some form of radiation leakage I might be able to hide the torpedoes from them.” He gave the commander an odd look “But without a launcher, they’d need to be activated manually, I don’t know if it’s possible to jury-rig it another way, by that I mean It’s not my field of expertise.”

CSO

“That’s ok. I just don’t want our ship and tech to be stolen and used, especially if they have just gotten into space. Our stuff would be very advanced to them. Or it could be the reverse. I just want a bomb incase the board us and there would be no other alternative other than blow this dang thing apart so they don’t get their hands on it. Loring might do something similar.”

He waited a bit before continuing. “You said they could detect photon torpedos and dismantle it…that is if they could. Like I said, they may be inferior to us and not possess that kind of tech. So we will not luanch it. But do see to it that we push one out with the hail that I’m sending so That maybe they might pick that up. Get on it Mr. Grey! Time is of the essence!”

Commander Chris Taggart XO

William looked at the Commander With a confused look “So to reiterate, I’m to make a probe that sends a distress call, Yes?” He didn’t quite understand the OCmmanders interesting manner of speaking.

CSO

“Yes Mr. Grey. ” was all he said.

William nodded and got to work. He moved to the Comms panel and opened a line to the Torpedo room and started talking with the Torpedo Technicians about using an empty casing and making it into a distress probe.

An NE looked up from his station, “Sir, you don’t really think they mean us harm do you?” He looked a bit shaken considering the prospect that an unknown would just come in swinging instead of helping them out.

-GM

Chris looked at him and smiled. “My dear fellow. I understand and can appreciate your apprehension and I’m not going to blow smoke up your butt. I don’t know their intentions. But better to be safe than sorry. They might be friendly. They might be friendly at first as a ruse to get us to drop our guard or they may be downright hostile. Who knows. But the facts are this my boy. A quarter of our ship is broken off and floating next to us along with the bodies of many of our comrades. You can see for yourself out the view screen. We have very little power and no means to defend ourselves unless they board. That is why I’m arming everyone. So if you believe in any type of higher being or god or gods, then please say something for us that they will be friendly. If not. Then make peace with yourself. For in about two hours time we might either be blown up, boarded and killed, boarded and captured, or just tortured and then killed. Or we can be shaking hands with new friends. Sorry to be the bearer of bad and unwanting news, but please return to your task unless you have anymore questions.

Commander Chris Taggart XO

After a bit of working the console nearby beeped a warning. The incoming unknown ship was now 30 minutes away. Close enough with the damaged sensors to get a hazy picture.

The long body of the ship slowly faded into view through the static. Its copper hue and giving a more clear profile of the wide nose section. It’s general profile was almost like that of a serpent.
A voice cut through as the image distorted to a person. Their armor black and sharp, complimenting the hard neck ridges. Raised ridges around the eyes giving the man a menacing look before meeting at a prtion above the eyes that flattened into a divet. Giving the man the vague impression of a spoon stuck to his forhead.

Chris was racking his brain trying to figure out if the Federation had seen these people before.

The man on the screen barked something in his native language. He scowled and repeated himself before looking over off screen and barking something at someone else.

-GM

Chris put out his hands and arms in an obvious sign and gesture of peace and bowed to the individual on the screen. “Greetings fellow traveller. I can hear you but cannot understand what you’re saying. Can you hear and understand me?” There was no need to go further if he couldn’t hear or understand Chris thought. The Alein could see that Chris had only one eye and that he was bandaged and hurt already.

Mwezi returned to the bridge, carrying enough phasers for everyone there. He began to hand them out quietly, glancing once or twice at the screen.

Mwezi

As Nack saw the phasers, he took one but holstered it. He whispered to the Security officer, “Not completely necessary. We can win this. I have full confidence in this ship.”

Ensign Nack al Dul Sci

“It is just a precaution, ensign.” Andrea spoke barely louder then a whisper. “Let’s hope we won’t need to use them, but prepair never the less. The whole security is on high alert already.” She reasured him.

Lt. Andrea Stone, COS

Commander Chris Taggart XO

William looked over at his junior officer as he Grabbed a phaser, he held it awkwardly before attaching it to his uniform “I hope you’re right Lieutenant Stone because I believe these gentlemen are mighty fuzzled” He looked over to the Comms station “Put it through every language filter we have.” He looked at the screen as he opened a Comm Channell [O]Bridge to Captain Stovik, we’ve made First Contact with the Aliens but nothings translating. Commander Taggart is attempting communications but we’re not certain how well it’s going[O]

CSO

[O]Understood, I will return to the bridge within the hour when my treatment is completed. Stovik out.[C]

Captain Stovik

The man on the screen spole in his language again. He clearly could not understand these newcomers and probably felt they were the same. He pulled his hands up to the screen and pointed at the crew. Then he did his hands upwards with a questioning look. Best translation would have been, ‘You, why?’

-GM

Like all of his planet in Starfleet, Mwezi had what was called a Universal Remote Interface (URI for short) attached at his wrist. It translated human and alien speech into nerve impulses that his brain could understand, and changed his own speech into something they could understand, as his lips were not actually capable of human-like speech. He turned to watch the aliens on the screen, tilting his head and pressing a few inputs onto his URI in the hopes that two translators together would help. “It seems they have similar expressions to other humanoid species,” he commented softly. “It… (he?) seems to be asking… why we are here”

He put the pile of weapons down, and slipped over so he stood slightly behind the XO, his slightly puzzled expression remaining as he continued to fiddle with his own translator.

  • Mwezi

He nodded to Mwezi. “Seems so.” He held up one finger as to say give him a minute and looked at the Comm officer. “NE Fortuna. You know lingustics. Come up here and help me translate please.” It was not really a question but an order. Their lives depended on this as a simple misunderstanding could mean death to them all. He ran to his office/CSO’s office which was thankfully on the bridge and grabbed his model of this ship and an old Earth globe. He spent many of long nights while hospitalized putting this thing together and painstakingly painted it to every detail was captured and the globe has been in his family for generations since he came from a long line of explorers and ran back to stand slightly in front of the comm officer and Ensign Mwezi.

He held up the model ship and and the globe. Then he made it look like the ship was slowly leaving Earth. He then handed the globe over to Ensign Mwezi to hold and he then made the ship move farther away. Trying to show that they came from Earth and left on a journey. He put the ship down and took the globe from Mwezi and held it up for the Alein to see and said “Earth! This is Earth and where I and this ship came from. We have many species of Aliens on our planet” and gestured around to Mwezi, a Vulcan and various other species on the bridge.

He then handed the globe back to Mwezi to hold again and raised up the ship so it could be seen. He then lifted up the Nacelle and took out the engine and showed it to the Alein then put it back in.

“We got a new engine and set out to test it. Going faster and faster as we went on. Then the ship went too fast!”

He was now ruining back and forth across the bridge going faster and faster with each pass. Showing at intervals how the ship shook at times by shaking his model violently. Then when he got back to the center of the bridge again, he stopped still holding the ship up.

“Then after a bit the ship stopped very suddenly and then, WHAM!!!!”

Chris then took his other hand and tried to crush his model ship and destroying it to show how they got here and what is clearly visible to the aliens outside their viewscreen.

“That is how we got here and why we need your help. Well you please assist us?”

He looked around the bridge and motioned for the Alein to follow him as he went to some wounded and also found a wrench. He pointed to the wounded.
“Help!” While holding up a bag with a red plus sign on it. Then went back to the middle were his ship lay on the ground and picked up the pieces and with the wrench He made a gesture of trying to fix the ship then looked back up acid said, “Help fix!” Then stood there waiting for the Alein to process what he did and said.
