She looked up and saw the two come around. “Commander, Lieutenant. I’ve found some very unusual readings of some sort of living being. Not sure where but something is alive down here.” She reported. “I would recommend we go and head back to the ship and inform the captain.” She added.

OOC: Being pedantic… Will instructed the away team not to take weapons… he may be reconsidering this life choice, but we need to live with it.

“Yes, quite.” Will said, nodding toward the biomechanical figure that stood before them. “What do you make of it?” asked, both T’Sol and Forster.

“Well, it’s clearly not Borg because the organic and mechanical are perfectly combined. I don’t see any weapons, but it looks extremely strong.” John said out loud “do you think we should try talking with them?” He asked

“It is only logical that we do try for a first contact. But I must give a warning. A bit of a primitive species we have yet to identify. The logical choice is to make first contact and being cautious about doing so. This species also seems to be ‘gentle’. Which of course isn’t the word choice that I would use. But having phasers even if it is a single phase may or may not provoke them.” She added.

T’Sol’s tricorder continued processing the unusual readings as the Away Team studied the figure before them. The results remained difficult to reconcile. The scanner detected something resembling biological activity, but it was interwoven with energy patterns and fluctuations that seemed to extend beyond the boundaries of a conventional physical body.

More importantly, the tricorder finally resolved the discrepancy in the contact count. Four distinct life signs remained elsewhere aboard the derelict, clustered together behind an active forcefield.

The figure before the Away Team was the fifth.

Its appearance was only partially corporeal. A vaguely humanoid form stood several meters away, translucent enough that portions of the compartment behind it remained visible. Its outline shifted subtly, occasionally becoming more substantial before fading again, as though it existed somewhere between matter and energy.

There were hints of something biomechanical within the manifestation, but the tricorder could not clearly distinguish where biology ended and whatever other process sustained the figure began.

The figure made no threatening movement toward Archer, T’Sol, or Forster. Instead, its head slowly turned toward T’Sol as another harmonic vibration passed through the derelict. Nearby panels flickered to life, and the figure briefly became considerably more distinct. Then a single word reached them, more in their minds than aloud.

“Tamm.”The harmonic vibration faded, but the apparition remained. Whatever Tamm was, the Away Team had found the source of T’Sol’s fifth contact.

She gave a puzzled look at the figure after it said Tamm. “Commander. Lieutenant. Do either of you know what it said? Tamm is a very unusual word. My question is, why’d it look directly at me?” She asked.

“Maybe Tamm is how they say hello I can try and adjust the universal translator” John started to make adjustments to the universal translator, but he needs them to talk more “try to get him talking more T’Sol” John remembers his time in the academy, he used to date a girl who was into alien languages he’s been hours with her, adjusting a universal translator to pick up and detect more languages.
