Pawl was looking over the warp drive system in engineering, checking the computers and other components to see where the breakdown or failure might have occurred. Pawl sighed hard as he looked away from the monitors for a moment. He truly did not want to check every subsystem and component of the engineering system, along with impulse reactors, even though Ms Lovejoy was dealing with the impulse reactors, etc. One thing that would definitely help is to increase shielding around these systems to help prevent damage to these systems, extra hull plating, or a couple of smaller shield generators to help with the protection of the warp drive controllers and their other components.

Pawl was getting a headache from all of these frustrations over the lack of warp power or impulse drive. And along with the impulse system is out too. Pawl sighed hard over this And from all of the prior vessels that have visited the area of space, most or all had issues with systems going out of failures of some kind. Pawl did not think if there was a proper study done of the storms of this region of space.

Main engineering seems to be fine since there was a fault with the equipment there. Now he had to check all of the other components outside engineering. From the main bridge to the nacelles themselves. He had started this process with a clean jumpsuit, but now it was steadily getting more dirty as time went alone.

He was crawling through the tubes and nacelles all this time. Fixing burned-out components. As he found them, but there was still no restoration of the warp drive as of yet. As he crawled out of the tubes into the main corridor. He was covered in oil and burnt component smell, and grime. He closed the hatch he came out of as he moved towards the nearest turbo lift. “Bridge! He said in a rather rough voice. As the lift took off towards its destination. Pawl sighed hard as he finally looked at himself through a reflection in a oanel near him. WOW, he could not imagine he was that bad of shape after crawling through the bowels of the ship to fix the engines.

The lift came to a stop as he exited the if and opened the access port to the engineering console. To check the terminal and interface connections there before moving to the help and navigation section to check on the systems there. Was was not in there long before he finally smelled and found a bad relay component that would have caused the network to go down with the impulse and warp drve controler to fsil as he swiftly replaced the bad component with a bright flash of light as a charge of electrical energy briefly blinding him a moments as the familiar hum of the reconnected circuits showed green on the engineering station near by. ”There… Warp Engines are back online, sir!” Pawl said quickly. as he closed the access point.

As he stood up from behind the console. You could see his hair was a bit smoking and singed a bit after getting a light up from the console. Pawl seemed to take the brunt of the charge from the ship. He was a bit wobbly from the ordeal. He moved slowly towards his station and confirmed the readings. With the computer. “All is good for warp drive, sir! Is there anything else, sir?” Pawl asked them as he swayed back and forth. As Pawl tried to stop swaying.

Chris heard and saw the flash and rushed over to the station but Pawl was already out. Looking him over he pressed the switch next to the station. [O] Bridge to Sickbay. Send a team up to the Bridge. An officer electrocuted himself. Bring the gear for this and he is conscience. [O] Flipping the switch to turn it off.

“Pawl . Please sit down. Are you OK?”

“I am fine Captain.” Paw said calmly. “Just a bit crispy around the edges.” Noting a hint of humor in his voice. As he followed the orders to take a seat.

Chris tried not to laugh but failed. “Well. I’m glad you’re OK. But I still insist on medical checking you over, then I want you to get a few hours of sleep. Fatigue lead to this lapse in judgment. They’re others that can do what you do. Rest my friend. After that, then come back refreshed and ready to work. Savvy?

“Aye, sir! I will do as you wish.” Pawl commented, feeling the humorous moment settling in as he must have unintentionally set up an old Earth joke. “I am not embarrassed by this predicament, but what I am feeling from the others, I must be a sight to see.” He smiled, noting all was good, and waited for a hand to sickbay or medical teams to come get him.

Chris put a gentle warm hand on Pawl’s shoulder and squeezed it gently. “That’s a good man. I’ve been where you are and at least the people looking at you care about you. Keep that in mind. No one immune to a sudden lapse of judgment. Well, maybe Kastarak is but I sure am not.” He said chuckling.

Just then the turbolift doors opened and two medics came out and gaffes straight for Pawl. “We’ve got this now sir. Please step away.” Chris nodded and gave then their space. One shown a small light in Pawl’s eyes while the other one took Pawl’s vitals.

Pawl was still unsure what all the fuss was about, but he felt fine. “I am fine,” he told the medics. We can deal with the examinations in sickbay.” He said calmly to them as he watched the others from his vantage point, sitting on the floor. His eyes flickered from the light shining into them.

“We will determine whether you are fine or not sir. Please sit still.” The female medic said and after a few moments the nodded to each other. “We are done and you are free to get up with our help and we will take you to sickbay for a couple more test and some medication, then you can go to your cabin and rest.” The male medic said. They helped Pawl to his feet. “Do you need to say or do anything before you go sir?” The female said.

Pawl listened calmly to the team and others. Pawl did not fight them. As he rose from the floor with their assistance. “Understood!” Pawl said flatly to the medical team. “All has been said.” Pawl said softly with a smile. Pawl nodded at the captain and the others quickly as he was escorted towards the lift. As the doors opened for them to enter. As they disappeared from everyone’s view.

“Rest well Lieutenant. We’ll see you in a few hours.” Man! That was close. Chris said as he raked his fingers back through his hair. Turning around.

“Listen up everyone. If you’re tired, then get someone to replace you and go rest. This is how unnecessary accidents and fatalities happen.”
