It’s been two days since the Romulans have left them. The engineers have recalibrated the spectrum emissions from the cloak, so the Romulans shouldn’t be able to find them. Or, they hope as much.

Kastarak, physically exhausted by the whole ordeal, the effects of skeleton crew in doubly unfriendly territory (both Klingons and Romulans all around…), and trying to figure out what to do, how to act, about their mission. In the midst of it all, Lt Dawson had disappeared. No one knew how. At first it all seemed like the Romulans had taken him, but it was possible he had left in an escape pod (two were missing, but the records from when was erased). Perhaps he went to look for his sister, or perhaps indeed it was the Romulans.

Kastarak was sitting by himself n the mess hall, hearing the slow buzz of the lunch hour. He had an oily salad with a side dish of potatoes and some kind of Betazoid protein-rich seeds, half-meditating, half-dissociating.

He was tired. Even this Vulcan would admit that he was tired mentally too.

(OOC: tried to give a little story for how Dawson disappeared – OOC unrostered because of inactivity I believe – but that also gives him an opening to come back if Alexander H should like that)

Ensign John Forster entered the mess hall with a small bottle in hand. He saw the Lt Cdr setting and said to himself “ just the Vulcan I was looking for” he took a set across from him “hey man I know you’re tired. The last few days have been difficult for everyone, but I do have a surprise for you.” he slid the bottle across the table to him. “The old man silver gave me a bag full of Vulcan tea leafs and I made some for you”

Kastarak felt a sudden flicker of warmth in his gut. There was a kindness, an empathy, a conveying of connection and emotion in Ensign Forster’s gesture. Kastarak looked up, and looked into John’s eyes. He said, “Thank you. You are kind. Indeed, I am tired. How are you feeling, ensign? How has this ordeal the past few days affected you?”

The young Ensign stretched his back out a little bit “I am just happy to not be in the brig” he said “ this tea is made from vol-Vour tea leafs the last harvest from Vulcan. So maybe this will give give you a taste of home” he said softly opening the top cap to let the smell of the tea fill the room.
