Lydia couldn’t hide her frustration in her mind. Sara was a difficult patient – hostile at the same time as she was seeking help. Lydia thought of personality disorders, and other conditions that might influence Sara’s behaviour and expression. Though Lydia was not an expert on Betazoid psychology, and Sara’s case demanded more specialised expertise.

“When you return to Starfleet Medical, I highly recommend you seek out Betazoid psychotherapy – with a therapist who is specialised in Betazoid psychology, especially with regard to alexithymia and relationship issues. With alexithymia, I mean what I observe in you: a difficulty putting words to your emotions and understanding what your emotions are conveying.”

But from what you’ve told me, it is clear that your emotional dysregulation and and your difficulties in understanding other people’s intentions and emotional communication that have caused you a lot of stress, making you unfit for duty right then, which is why you are on this ship en route to Earth.”
