A buzz of engineers from the USS Constitution gathered in Engineering. Pawl Batario, as chief engineer, was tasked with dividing up the work. Next to himself, he had his second, Sara Lovejoy. While she was considering a move to helm, she was still in Engineering and was the most senior engineer there after Mr Batario.

From the Constutution, there were Lieutenant Augustín Zóbel de Ayala, chief engineer, and five junior engineers, all ensigns and all men: Kax (Caitian), Abdullahzai (human), Kalathiou (human) and Ashruy (Andorian). Why were there only men here, one might think. There was a soft smell of testosterone pheromones in the room. They were all ready for action.

Lt Zóbel de Ayala spoke up,

“Mr Batario, my team are at your disposal. I understand propulsion is down and shields are down. There are also EPS faults around the ship. How do you want us to work this? You know the ship and its needs better than any one.”

“Well, your teams need to work on shields and getting propulsion up. I will go work on the EPS problems.” Pawl said calmly to them. “Ms lovejoy can help you guys or help with the eps problems.” pawl added as he showed them to the engineering room. as he grabbed his tool kit. from a nearby table.

“Very good,” Lt Zóbel de Ayala replied. “I’d recommend at least having one more with you to deal with the EPS. Ms Lovejoy, choose your team! Want to work with Mr Batario, or with us? If you go with us, I’ll send Kax to join Batario” He smirked. He started dividing his up his group in two teams.
