OOC: For the purpose of this thread, I will (unless Kastarak is called) only be acting as storyteller/”game master”.

Points to consider:
- Chernov is still landed on the surface of Titan.
- Romulan cloaking tech needs to be installed, tested and tested, so that we’re undetected
- It also needs to work in space and in a wide range of conditions
- How things are done, I leave to you guys ;)
- I will as story teller respond to queries to computer, test results, etc., and i might add other people (crewmen for example) in the story if needed

Morning after the dinner, Colonel Malone, Second Officer Grey and Engineers Batario and Lovejoy were supposed to meet at eight-hundred hours to go over the first phase of implementing the Romulan cloaking tech. It would all start in the core of the ship, in Engineering.

Storyteller

Pawl was in engineering trying to make sure all the tools were ready for the install of the new cloaking device and dealing with the scheduled ridged testing. It was rather quiet in engineering since most of the crew was left behind at there last stop. Hearingactivity coming from the coridor. He straighted his uniform as he moved towards that direction of the enterance of main engineering. “Good Morning All.” Pawl said with calm and collected face.

“Morning Lieutenant” William spoke with his customary calm. He’d spent most of the previous evening reading all available material on cloaking technology in general and Romulan Technology specifically “We ready?” He asked not really expecting an affirmative answer.

“I am ready as I can be under the current situation. Sir!” Noting the the tools and equipment he thought we might need. “If we need anything else we can get it from ships stores.” Pawl added calmly to the officer as he waited for the others to arrive.

Malone walked in like he owned the place. “We have our own tools Lieutenant and what circumstances are you referring to?”

Colonel Tom Malone Storyteller

“First off lack of an engineering staff as it were and All I did was try to be helpful to you and your men and all i get is attitude from you sir! To my knowledge I haven’t done anything wrong and your a acting you own the place. sir!” pawl commented calmly as he could but someday he will need a true friend and he wont have one. Pawl wanted to say more but he did not want to get into deeper trouble with this officer but he will file a complaint with the officer on duty on bridge.

OOC: Dang Pawl. You got me right in the feels with this post. I’m very sorry that your character is hurting so and I’m even more sorry that I have to twist the knife so to speak in you with this Malone character. Here in about a year we’ll be rid of be Malone for good and you’ll play a big part in that. For now please don’t take anything Malone says as serious to your character or your amazing role playing. We need a great villain to be great heroes.

Maine faltered in his step slightly upon hearing this sub human race talk to him in that manner. His anger grew v more when he noticed some of Pawls other engineers smile briefly seeing their Department Head stand up to a man such as Malone. “I can do the things to sub human trash like yourself because I have the birth right of being born a human.” He scathed. “All of your kind are all alike, especially the Vulcans. You all think you’re better than us humans because you’ve been around longer and have had superior technology long before we ever existed. Well let me tell you one thing Lieutenant. We humans managed to get to space and achieved faster than light travel faster than any of your species. We even came up with the idea of Starfleet AMD the Federation to unify you all because you couldn’t! So don’t play the high and mighty card with me!”

“As far as your lack of engineers. That was your beloved captains doing. Not mine! He’s the one that told you all to bring this crew. Not me. So sick with the facts of you can oh Enlightened One! And as for my attitude, I already told you that part. Now get back to work or out of our way!” Malone said as he pushed past Pawl.

Pawl left the ramblings of the officer where they lied as for him being subhuman he will learn more about that later but he was not plotting revenge. “As you wish Sir! Where do you want me?Sir!” not using his conernal Malones rank. But not giving in to the bully either. PAwl made sure all was recorded for future dealings. As he did what he could in his side jobs as he awaited for other assignments to come across his padd.

Malone was about to tear into Pawl when Miss Lovejoy started in on him.

Lovejoy just stood there listening in on the whole thing and didn’t say anything due to the fact that she knew that if she did, she would be in the wrong. But she did speak up. “Look I don’t want to interrupt but if I may say colonel. But this is chief engineer Batario’s engine room yes you maybe a colonel and yes he might be only a Lieutenant Junior Grade. But I fail to see why we should be pushed harder when we clearly had gotten a lot of things done and worked hard. Hell, if I have to be relieved of duty I will but I’m standing up to Batario. But before he became chief I was chief and I did most of everything on this damn cloacking device there is here. And if you dont like how we worked on the other half then tell me that I’m relieved from my duty. But I’m putting my foot down that this is Batario’s engine room anf this ship is captain taggarts. But like I said if you don’t like wjst I’m telling you relieve me of my duty for all I damn care.” She told the colonel off.

Lieutenant Lovejoy

Knowing about Miss Lovejoy from her personnel file and what he’s found out he was actually impressed that she stood up for a fellow officer and stood up to even him. He was just about to compliment her when Pawl chimed in again.

Pawl felt proud that someone would stick up for him in this manner. Even though it might be a bit overpowering in nature but i cant blame her He felt the same way and would have done the same thing if the roles were reversed. Pawl smiled softly a momnet letting ms lovejoy notice his approval of this action. Even though it might cause more friction with Malone. Pawl cleared his throught to help cut anymore from the young lady. “Thank you Lieutenant I appreciate the support. But if you want to go its your choice.” pawl said kindly. “we will talk more later.” As he looked back at Coronel Malone again trying from Laughing at the man. “She is right this is my engineering room or section. Granted i cant control the staffing due to orders by my superiors and nature of the mission. But I can and have done everything in my power to make you welcome here and you deem it necessary for being mean rude and just plan as the humans put it an ass or disreguard the code of conduct for crew and officer reguardless of rank. I am to the point if i get pulled from this assignment or repromanded by this it will be a blessing from the goddesses. And for another thing I am not human by anymeans but I am a Betazoid. And I wont take anymore lip from you either. If your wanting a fight I am a practical soul I can give you a run for your money sir!” Pawl said flattly to the crew of all in attendance. Hoping this was the last said in the matter. “Now lets get this thing installed.” Pawl ordered as he got to work getting things done. He did not care of Malones rank the captain will have to pull him from engineering duty before giving up the post to mr hot head.

“Are you finished now?” He looked at everyone. “Are you all finished now? Can we get back to work please?” And in a very calm voice and very uncharacteristically of him Malone spoke. “First off Lt. Batario, I seriously doubt you could ever win in a fight against me. Secondly.... I’m actually proud of you and Miss Lovejoy. You stood up to an adversary and were unified. You’re both right in me being an a$$hole. So we’ll do as you say and get this cloaking technology on.” He waves in the crew and they get to work. “I’m going to go see Chris but not about this. Good day to you both.” And he left the engine room but not engineering when he ran into a NE Engineer and pushed him as Captain Taggart came in. They both yelled at each other and started fighting and Taggart won and dragged an unconscious Malone away.

William had been standing still, tense as Malone and the Engineers argued as if in a trance. He seemed to finally snap out of it just as Malone walked past them and he had a look of befuddlement on his face that he shook off. He felt wetness in his palm and opened a fist he didn’t recall closing. It was bleeding, not profusely but still enough to smear his right hand, he seemed to have clenched his hand hard enough to pierce his skin with his nails. He shook his head and quickly placed both hands behind his back and looked at the two engineers, a facade of stoic calm appearing on his face “Good work you two, in the future just ignore the Colonel if he’s being belligerent, call the Captain, Kastarak, or myself” His jaw clenched “Let’s get to work” He looked at the Captain dragging an unconscious Malone and frowned “Mr. Batario do you have a piece of cloth I could use?” He asked in a distracted tone.

Pawl listend to the officer. “Of Course sir! there is some in matience locker number 2.” As he walked over to retrieve some for the officer and handed it to him. “Here you go sir. I will do as you poropose sir!” Pawl said with a small smile as he started working on getting the unit wired and installed.

William accepted the cloth with a nod and waited until the Engineer turned around to open his other hand and wipe the blood off. He’d only pierced the top-most layer of skin and the damage was negligible, it had been mostly pressure that led to him to bleed. He used saliva to properly clean his hand and then produced a small container of salve to put on his hands. After a few minutes, he joined Pawl “How long will the installation process take?” He asked

“It should not take to long. But you never know with all the people in engineering making sure its done right might be hours.” Pawl said trying to use humor to deflate his anger. “are you ok sir?” Pawl noticed the injury. But doing his best not to make a fuss over the situation. He knew it was handled well.

William looked at his hand “Nothing to be concerned about Lieutenant, I was just careless” He said simply, he wasn’t going to mention nearly losing control of his faculties for a moment. “I won’t have much to do until the system is installed as my work is mostly for the codebase but if you need a hand just let me know”

Kastarak arrived at Engineering in a hurry. He looked around, and found Mssrs Grey and Batario speaking with another. He was pleased there were none of Malone’s crew nearby.

Kastarak hurried to the two senior officers and interrupted them.

He whispered, “All ground crew will leave the ship. Mr Dawson is in charge of that. I will need you to prepare for take-off. We will continue the cloaking implementation once in space.”

“Aye sir all is ready for departure. ” Pawl said calmly to the first officer and navigation officer.

It was always strange for Kastarak to see Pawl in his professional and formal setting. It was uneasy speaking to him, but Kastarak did his best purging the feelings of uneasiness. The problem with doing that is that his warmth for Pawl would shine through and might hurt Pawl more. So Kastarak decided to bring back the uneasy feelings to cloud the warmth. But then he changed his mind again. It was hard. He wanted to leave. Pawl would probably sense the roller coaster in Kastarak’s mind.

“Very good,” Kastarak replied. “I will head to the bridge now and make the arrangements. Stay here, we will take off soon. Once we’re out of the Saturn system, we will go to warp, even though we’ll still be in the Sol system.”

“Understood Sir!” Noticing the issues but kept quiet. “If there is anything you are needing dont hesitate to ask.” Pawl said with a kind smile of understanding. Pawl knew the change was not an easy one but know it had to be done for the sake of now command and ship. PAwl refocused his efforts on getting the device installed keeping all outside distractions away as best as he could.

William looked between the two officers with a raised eyebrow “Quite, I’ll go set up an interface between our systems and the cloak” He said turning to a nearby panel and opening a programming window.
