Pawl was in the process of cleaning out the main workshop to have plenty of room to start a new project as he threw items into the recycler that were dead projects or discarded projects from past engineers who used to be here part of the crew and now have departed for new assignments or parts that Pawl did not know of. as the clanking and dropping of material into the bin or floor out of the way to be placed in the recycler later. As he started ordering materials to start construction on a terminal and display system housing.

“Computer please send a message to Engineer Lovejoy that I would like to see here as soon as possible or as her duty permits.” knowing full well she was busy doing other chores and duties as well so this gave her a chance to finsh them off before visiting him. PAwl said calmly as the computer beeped the acknowledgment of the order and then sent the message. “Message sent” the computer replied.

Pawl was sitting at a small workstation near the corner near the door to the right in a small cove area as he was in deep in computer programming new routines and systems for the new console. along with building components to be placed inside the console on a worktable behind the computer station he briefly worked at as he was moving to 3 different locations at once. Most of the engineers left the chief alone during such a task so he would not have a chance to mess up or lose his train of thought while working. As he started to Sing an old Betazoid tune as he worked which made the whole department stop what they were doing for a good minute as the team was almost mesmerized by the tune. Pawl noticed the change in the room. As he spoke briefly to them all. “All is good, please don’t let me bother you. please enjoy the tune.” He said with a smile as he continued to sing again as the others went back to work with fond feelings of happiness and joy warming their hearts.

Pawl started to install some of the hardware into the housings of the consol terminal on the far side of the room where the new idea Pawl had for a master systems display started to come together along with a massive display that was normally used in the conference room on a starbase would use normally. The display system is using some newer components he saw at a conference he watched during his off time. seeing if the newer tech was compatible with Starfleet standards or if would he have to create an interface to help with the introduction and integration of the new tech and software and hardware.

Pawl pulled himself away from his alluring project to get a snack and a tall drink of iced water. “Computer sent a request to the chef I would like several sandwiches like peanut butter and jelly I believe they are called on wheat bread along with a large pitch of iced water and several glasses. as he casually walked over grabbed a folding table out of storage and opened it up for the future refreshments to arrive for him to have his break.

Lovejoy had just got the message and started to head to where Chief Engineer Batario was. She had then said “You asked to see me sir?” She asked since she was a little confused and wasn’t sure why she was called here.

Lt. J.G. Lovejoy - Engineer -

Pawl looked up from his project to see Ms. Lovejoy enter the shop. “Why hello there Ms Lovejoy. I hope all is going well. I am here building a rather labor-intensive project called a master system display. This display will help diagnose problems around the ship and will show problems in real-time. As errors or Problems arise will in red on the master display along with the problem and possibly suggestions on handling such problems that happen to occur at that moment.”Pawl said with a kind smile. “I was wondering if you would like to assist me with the project?” PAwl asked.

Lt Jg Pawl Batario - Chief Engineer

“You want me to assist you with this project, sir? I mean I don’t mind helping. But what would it be in it for me sir? Not knowing what to say sir.” She said kind of questioning him. “Sir I’m more then willing to help not a problem. But what will I get in return if I do help?” She asked him.

Lt. J.G. Lovejoy.

Pawl sighed hard before he spoke. “One, showing you are still interested in the chief position for one. giving you the freedom to show your worth to the captain and the others I know you have the skills down and know what to do. Most of what you are doing is a refresher to you and relearning lost skills or forgotten protocols are a great asset.” Pawl said with a calm voice. This project will bring new needed tech to the engineering section along with helping in repairs during a crisis situation. faster response times. Maybe even lighting the load of fellow engineers in the future.”

“Yes sir. I do want to be chief engineer.” She said with smile at him.

Engineer Lovejoy

“Well, I am glad to still hear it, Ms. Lovejoy. This new mission is going to be a hard and trying mission with having a limited crew in engineering. Since we are going to be running things on a skeleton crew maybe even more less than that.” Pawl sighed hard. “I had hoped this new diversion would be done to help us in the future but we can work on it on route or put it aside for now.” Pawl looked at the console for a long minute before speaking again. “Or we try and get it done before losing the engineering staff.” Pawl thought out loud.

Lt. Lovejoy had then put a hand on his shoulder and said. “Pawl. I say we try and get it done before losing the engineering staff and enroute on the way we are going. I feel like if we did that it’ll make things a little more easier for us if you must ask me Pawl. If I remember before I was set being a regular Engineering officer, I remembered when we are on a skeleton crew or less, we must keep working on something that we have been working on. However, since your still chief engineer it’s you call. But it is just a suggestion from a friend that cares about you and this department. That we must work on it enroute and while we still have our people.” She explained to Pawl.

Lt. Lovejoy - engineer.

“Since we are going to be part of the skeleton crew which shifts do you prefer mornings or afternoons? more than likely then we can let the lower deck officers deal with the odd hours of the shift or let them fill in on our work shifts so that we are not along all the time.” Pawl asked with a smile. “Your kindness and input are always welcome ms Lovejoy. especially your friendship and sincerity.”

“I can do both morning and afternoon shifts. If anything I do wake up early and actually come in early and work. So if anything I can do both shifts and work around the clock if need be.” She said. “However, is this my last project before anything before the captain considers me as chief engineer again or no? I’m just curious cause I could use someone like you still here if I do become chief engineer again.” She added.

Lovejoy - Engineer

“As for being the last thing before the captain decides He has not said anything to me about this as of yet. ” Pawl said with a straight face. “Well let’s decide on the shifts we will take since we’re going to be way understaffed as well.” Pawl said with a small smile as he tried to take in all of her words. “I am here to serve if that means me being a simple engineer again or assisting more that’s up to you. I haven’t thought of taking anything more than maybe dealing with helm or navigation. to give me more learned skills on the ship. ” Pawl said with more of a straight face.

“I understand. If you do choose to leave engineering. I’ll make sure that engineering will be in one piece.” She said.

Lovejoy - Engineer

All pawl could do was smile at her. “Very good Miss Lovejoy. Let us try to get some of this project done it will come in handy in the future.”

Lt Jg Pawl Batario - Chief Engineer

“Pawl. I had a feel about this project for a while. Before you became chief engineer. Uh I got about 3/4 of the way done. It only needs is finish touches on it. Uh I did end up forgetting to tell you cause this was a sudden change that’s why and I am sorry.” She said.

Lovejoy - engineer

“You are ok Miss Lovejoy we all allowed to forget especially with the quick changes that can happen.” Pawl said calmly to her forgiving the appology.

“I appreciate it Pawl. It’s just I didn’t know how to tell you that I had gotten 3/4 of the way done with this project. So hope it makes our job easier.” She said.

Lovejoy -engineer-

Pawl was pleased by miss lovejoys determination during the last few weeks. He would make sure that the captain knew of her renewed spirit to get back what she lost. “I believe it will Miss Lovejoy.” He said with a smile.

She smiled and didn’t know what to say. “I know I might not be fit just yet. Or right away. But if you think I’m fit then I’m willing to take it back. Since I did complete 3/4ths of this.” She said.

Lovejoy -engineer-

“We will have to talk to the captain.” Pawl said sincerely to her.

“I understand sir. So. Shall we finish this project that I had started before leaving?” She said to him.

Lieutenant Lovejoy -Engineer-

“Finishing off the project is a good idea.” Pawl said calmly. “Leaving???” PAwl asked questionly. “Who is leaving and where?” PAwl was totally confused.

“No meaning I started it before leaving the first time sir.” She said having Pawl understand.

Lieutenant J.G. Lovejoy -Engineer-

“I am sorry that i am not understanding you correctly. But now is whats more important than the past.” Pawl sai calmly.

“That I agree. Anyways sir. Let’s get this thing finished up.” She had said to him.

Engineer Lovejoy.

Pawl noded with a straight face as he turned to gather his items he needed and checked on the staff then moved back to the project bay as he started to work without another words spoken. After all of this was over he will need a small vacation. he thought to himself. dealing with kasarak, engineering this crazy mission this was going to be no cake walk that was for sure. as he continued to place componients and locking them into place.

Sara had done the same thing when Pawl got back over. However, she isn’t doing really much of anything else but doing this project that she has started a while back but is happy to assist at any time.
