Takes place after we unloaded unessential crew.

Chris was sitting in the center chair waiting for his XO to arrive. Once he did he got out of the chair and noticed for Kastarak to take a seat.

It was the first time Kastarak took the central chair as first officer. He had practised on Bridge before once, when Taggart was a helpful instructor on how to command a ship. Now, it was the real deal.

“Once we clear the docking bay of this port, we will head to these coordinates.” Chris have Kastarak a piece of paper with numbers written down. “Once you put those coordinates in I will take back the paper and destroy it. More orders will be given to you and the crew once we are underway and the appropriate security measures have been enacted. You have the con Number One. Take us out.” Chris then went and sat at the XO’s chair at Navigation.

“Yes, sir,” Kastarak affirmed.

It was an odd procedure, but the mission was clandestine. He glanced quickly at the coordinates. They led to a position in the Sol system. Kastarak expected them to lead them to the secret base on Titan.

As he looked at the uniqueness of the coordinates, and entered them onto the consol, he realized that the coordinates were not only for a point in space, but also on land – on Titan.

He would have to bring the ship through the thick atmosphere onto the surface of the moon.

That would be an ordeal. Not only were they on a skeleton crew, but landing a ship as great as the Chernov onto the surface of a moon with a thick atmospheric cover that sensors scarce can penetrate it would put enormous stress on the engines and would require excellent piloting skills.

“Sir – on full impulse we should reach the moon in three hours and forty-five minutes. We need a pilot with skills necessary to land the Chernov on the surface of the moon. With our crew being smaller, who might have the best skills in landing the ship in these circumstances?”

Chris smiled. “That would be either you or I. Since you’re running the con, I’ll take helm position. Besides, I’ve been there a couple times before and know the best way to land there.”
Chris then went over to the helms chair and sat while he waited to enter Titan.

Once over Titan, Chris took control of the ship and radioed the base there as they came in hard and fast…too fast it would seem and at the last moment while the thick clouds broke he hit the repulsers and slowed the ships decent and landed on the dock with grace. Smiling to himself more than to anyone. “That went better than last time. Now we’ll go inside and talk and wait while they do what they do.”

It had been a smoother ride than Kastarak had expected. Perhaps, after all, a surgeon’s steady hands was just as good in piloting as it was in field surgery.

“I will ready the away team,” said Kastarak, and headed out. He hoped the captain would stay on board, as the most senior officer, as the rest of the ship needed good leadership in the away team’s absence. Kastarak would, after all, bring with him the senior officers from security, engineering and science. “Perhaps you should stay in the comfort of the ship, and head the preparations for our return. I am also concerned for your health. I do not know how the low gravity and the EVA suits required would affect your cough.”

“Yes Mom!” Chris said with a smile and laugh. He liked how Kastarak was being a superb XO.
Making sure Chris didn’t do anything wrong or got hurt. Either he read up on all that in his studies or he’s talked with others with experience in the role. More than likely both since Kastarak is a very astute being. “I’ll do that and take care of everything here. You go in and get the briefing of the mission from a Colonel Tom Malone. He’ll be expecting you. And Kastarak. Don’t ask or answer questions about me. If the good Colonel wants to know about me, just tell him to go on board the Chernov and talk to me in person. I’ll retake the con. Go in peace Lieutenant.”. With that Chris sat in the center chair and began putting in codes with one hand and pouring coffee with the other.

Pawl exited the lift as he moved towards the start and placed items on automatic. “Sir Systems in engineering are now on automatic and all information will be posted here at the Main engineering station and a copy of the same information will be displayed in engineering on the master system display console and also on other terminals in engineering as well. Also, the test is being ran on the Master console system it won’t interfere with ship operations He added quickly to the officers present. There is a kill switch on the panel here and in engineering along with systems control just in case it needs to be deactivated.” As He Pointed to the only red button that was flashing on the terminal.” Pawl finished as he moved back towards the lift doors and tapped the call button as he waited for the lift to return.

Looking back up after he finished pouring his coffee. “Ah. Thank you Lieutenant! That is useful information.” Chris took a sip of his coffee and placed it back on the desk and waited for Pawl to leave and then pushed the red button. “Sorry Pawl.” He whispered. “Everything will need to be offline for the update and installing. But there will be time to finished your upgrade enroute to where we’re going.” Picking up his coffee and taking another sip he finally put in the last of the codes on his console. The ship was now totally unlocked for a lack of better terms.

Pawl was confused by the action just taken it would not have hurt the update or anything? Pawl thought to himself as he stood there at the lift. as the doors finally opened as he entered and turned as he showed a confused face. He sighed hard. “Engineering.” He said in a shallow tone as the computer beeped of the command as he left with nothing being said.

OOC: Pawl. You might have known it was offline once you got back to engineering but not before. Chris did it after you left. The ship needs to be totally unlocked to be uploaded with the codes, upgrades and software for our upcoming mission. In character you wouldn’t known that, maybe since you didn’t go through Starfleet Academy but You’ve been through Bajoran Academy.

But it’s cool and we’ll go with what you wrote if you wanted to confront Chris about it, which you have every right to.

Kastarak had observed the exchange. Better communication from the Bridge could have helped the situation. It was Kastarak’s mistake. In any case, that was too late now. The ship had landed on Titan, and the dark-orange tint of the atmosphere was outside the windows. It was curious seeing something else but space.

Kastarak needed to prepare the away team.

“Mr Batario, I need you to join Mr Grey, Mr Dawson and me on the away team. Bring such engineers as needed. Report to hangar bay at eighteen hundred hours, ship time. Any questions, Mr Batario?”

Kastarak specified ship time, but he really had no idea what the local time was. Despite the cold orangy dark, it was most likely midday. Titan would not get any brighter.
