Sega’a peeled off his gloves and hung them neatly on the hooks beside the sonic cleaner, an accomplished smile spreading across his lips as he turned to behold a clean galley. He hadn’t anticipated the dinner rush to be so… rushing, especially on pesto orzo night. Humans were awfully fond of their pastas, it seemed. He couldn’t blame them. There was something strangely comforting about a bowl of warm dough and a good sauce. Humming to himself, Sega’a made a final once-over to ensure all was in order for the breakfast rotation before heading to the doors.

Stepping into the corridor, he took a soft breath and glanced at the nearest chronometer. 19:17. Perfect! He had about ten minutes to spare — enough time to grab the paddles and his best (last remaining) ball. Without a moment’s hesitation, he whipped about his heel and made a beeline for the turbolift and a corner room on Deck 6.

Less than ten minutes passed before Sega’a bimbled into the Deck 5 lounge with a makeshift net, a pair of paddles and a worn ball cradled in his hands. He paused, briefly, to assess the company before heading to a table near the window to set up and wait for Todd. He had a feeling (however ‘illogical’ his Vulcan friends might consider it) that tonight was bound to be fun.

bump 21.11.2022. :)

Sega’a eyed the chronometer, watching as it ticked from thirty to forty minutes passed the hour with no sign of his friend. Had something happened? He distracted himself with a solo round, pushing the table against the wall to assess its ping-pong skills. Another five minutes passed and with it the enjoyment of playing an inanimate opponent.

He was starting to worry.

Sega’a laid the paddle on the table and shoved the ball into his pocket, then snagged his PaDD from the nearby chair and pulled up Todd’s name. He didn’t see any messages saying he would be late. Maybe he got lost? Maybe his shift ran late. In any case, Sega’a approached the commpanel to hail Applegate.

“Sega’a to Applegate,” he said with his usual chipper attitude, “are you down for a game tonight?”
