Jordan stopped just outside the large double doors that led into the ship’s main engineering bay and took a deep breath. His first posting, right out of the academy, and he’d been placed aboard a Kurtzman-class ship. Big, powerful, and advanced. A true dream come true for an engineer, but, at the same time incredibly intimidating for someone fresh out the gate. Taking one more deep breath he tugged on his red uniform tunic, and moved into the engineering bay, wishing they made the things a little less tight for people with a muscular build. Being nervous and feeling like your clothing is constricting around your shoulders and chest absolutely does not help.

As he crossed the cavernous space, he felt eyes swiveling to watch the new guy as he walked along towards the chief engineer’s office. It took less than a minute, but it felt more like a year. It felt just like the first time he’d ever walked into one of the classrooms back in San Francisco, except then he’d been late for his very first class and had every reason to be embarrassed and nervous. That thought made a nervous giggle bubble up, and suddenly he felt a little bit better. He finished the last few steps to the doorway with a smile, and a noticeable lessening of the butterflies in his stomach.

Reaching up he touched his finger to the chime button, looking around the space he would be working in, noting the confident way the other officers moved around, the way they all seemed so efficient, and how well-maintained and clean everything was, and he just knew he was going to like it here. One way or another.

Blaze was at his desk feeling alittle off. Was this job just handed to him there were other officers in engineering who can do this job better then him but the captain was the one who gave him the chance and he was not gonna let it go. He heard the bell on his door to the office ring “Entetr” he called out.
