As the ensign heard the chime go off he then said “enter.” To Kastarak. Not realizing that he probably left his tricorder in the mess hall so he sat there awaiting.

Ensign Applegate

Kastarak entered the room, with a tricorder in hand.

“Good evening, Mr Applegate,” he said. “Forgive my intrusion. As I was in the mess hall, I found this tricorder. Your name was the logged-on one. Is it perhaps yours?”

At this point, Kastarak realized he could have easily used the badge intercom to call him and ask him this way, but he had, on the other hand, enjoyed a walk and explored a different deck than he was used to. He was also curious of Mr Applegate, more so than he dared to admit to himself. It was a colleague he had heard much about but never had a chance to speak to before.

Kastarak handed over the tricorder for Applegate’s inspection.

– Dr Kastarak (ens.)

“Ah yes it is. Thank you. But is there anything else you’re here doctor.” He asked. He was just really unusually surprising to know.

Ensign Applegate

Kastarak, standing with his hands behind his back, nodded slightly.

“I’m happy to help”, Kastarak replied, attempting to use a human expression to bring ease to Applegate. After all, Kastarak had invaded Applegate’s privacy. “It is agreeable to have made your acquaintance. I believe we have never before spoken to one another. As it seems you are aware, seeing that you called me doctor, I am Kastarak, Ensign, medical officer on board. How long have you served on board the Chernov?”

– Ens. Kastarak (doctor)

“Oh uh yeah doc. I’ve been with the ship for a while now it’s a good ship. She has a good crew.” He said. “How about you?” He asked.

Ensign Applegate

Kastarak nodded.

“I see. For myself, some three months. I agree, the crew appears good. Should you ever need medical attention, I will be happy to attend to you”, said Kastarak, using yet another human emotive word. He hoped it didn’t seem hollow, as happiness was not anything he would feel right now, but he did mean that he would be very willing to help his colleague out, should he ever need it.
