Umbri took a deep breath as her shuttlecraft approached the USS Chernov, her first assignment since graduating from Starfleet Academy. She was nervous for a number of reasons, but most notably the following:
1. It was her first assignment from Starfleet period.
2. It was her first assignment as an official Security Officer.
3. Umbri didn’t make friends easily due to being cut off by her parents after a falling out. She liked to keep to herself and her music when she wasn’t burying herself in her work. But since she’s a Security Officer, she’ll have to talk to people on a fairly regular basis, which could be a challenge for her.

Umbri sighed. “And this is why I don’t like being alone with my thoughts,” she said to herself, beginning her transmission.
