Alex was in the mess hall eating dinner It was a hard day in engineering he messed up during the power transfers and blew out an EPS grid he spent the rest of the day repairing it. He was not happy with himself. He started Messing around with the mashed potatoes in his plate.

Ensign Alex Blaze (Engineer)

Commander Sideman walked in, grabbed some food, and walked up, “How was your day, Ensign?”

Sideman, XO

Alex looked up at him and plopped his head on the table as a response to answer the question. “a full day repairing a EPS grid that I accidentally blew out the CE has not killed me yet so ok at the time” He said somewhat playfully

Ensign Alex Blaze (Engineer)

“I see, well just try to keep up the good work. Not everything in Starfleet is glamorous, but all the work is important” replied Sideman.

Sideman, XO

“Indeed it is Commander! May I?” He said as he waved his tray of mash potatoes and meatloaf.

“Ensign Blaze has been an integral part of our team and has been improving himself over the last 7 months and at a speed that rivals warp.”

“Blaze. You have to ask yourself if you learned from your failed EPS grid. If you did, then that’s what matters. Better to mess up now then when the cards are all on the table.” Smiling. “So don’t be so hard on yourself.”

Blaze look up from the table “oh about our EPS grid I think I found a way to improve the EPS flow and a way to put A regulator system so they won’t be Easily blown out” he said wondering if the captain will like to know more

Ensign Alex Blaze (Engineer)

“That’s excellent news Blaze.” He said as he sat down. “Run it by your Department Head and if she likes it and approves of it, then you all can get started on it.” Taking a sip of his coffee he noticed the gleam in Blazes eye and sat the coffee down and looked at Blaze. “Please tell me how you could make it work?” He said smiling.

Blaze smiled “ Think about the EPS grid as a giant Station of trains. Everyone packs into a train without tickets the train unsafely travels. But put a regulator system into the EPS grid and it will be like the train has a ticket taker. As the train passes by the regulator they check everyone’s tickets and remove the access people off the train for the train to travel safety and the regulator will return the excess passengers back to the station so the extra power can be used in other areas.” As he completed what he was saying he looked at the CO to see what he thinks.

“That sounds great! We could use extra power. But where or how will the extra power be stored? I don’t want extra power just running through the ship destroying other circuits or overloading them.”

Blaze smiled “ emergency power cells stored throughout the ship. Let’s say if we don’t have enough power for emergency force fields. The power cells can be used independent from the main system in times of emergencies” he said taking a sip of his water.

Ensign Alex Blaze (Engineer)

“All of that sounds good Ensign, but how will we make sure that we don’t feed to much power into one spot? In other words, how will you regulate the flow” asked Sideman?
