Sideman entered Engineering and gave a command,

“We need to regain control of this ship.”

[O]Bridge to Commander Sideman, the alien entit–[O]

–Communication interrupted–

Sideman tried to answer but the communications would not work.

“What the hell is going on?” asked Sideman.

NE Lieutenant Grates looked up from the console as the XO walked in. “The Chief is in the transporter room trying just that, Sir. I’m working with her to put back locks in behind her to hopefully keep her progress up.” He was glancing down at the console over and over again as he spoke. Suddenly his hands lifted. “Huh, she stopped…” He didn’t realize she was talking to the disembodied voice and was a bit concerned her keystrokes had faltered.

“Then maybe we should return to the bridge” replied Sideman

Kanina spotted Sideman immediately, and let out a deep breath. “Lieutenant Commander Sideman? We’re ready for your guests.”

Just then Bridie walked in, grumbling under her breath and nearly walked into the XO. “Sorry, Sir. SIR! What are you doing here? I mean, who’s controlling the bridge? I just got control back and I don’t relish it being lost to some NE’s clumsiness. I understand the CO isn’t himself, either?” She was sweating and stressed, obviously. Suddenly she also realized she had walked into a conversation. “My apologies. Forgive me, Sir… Ma’am.” She nodded to the Councellor, mentally realizing she would probably miss her appointment that evening. Oddly, she dismissed it and didn’t mind.
