Posted by… suppressed (1) by the Post Ghost! 👻Tenkiller looked at himself in the mirror. Charcoal gray suit with a few shades lighter gray tie; the tie with a subtle silver stitching. Deep sapphire shirt. Dark brown leather shoes, matching belt. Pocket square of a color matching his shirt barely peeking out of the left breast pocket of his coat. His long, jet black hair pulled back into a low ponytail and secured with a two inch wide leather cuff that matched his shoes and belt. His cologne was reminiscent of open skies and sage. Cufflinks made of white gold and obsidian held the french cuffs together. He took a breath and exhaled slowly. He was glad he was a tad nervous. He did a quick check of his teeth and then left his quarters, making his way past the hydroponics bay to pick up the flowers he had asked for, and then to door to the Chief Science Officer’s quarters. He cleared his throat, and pressed the chime.
Tenkiller, CoS
She had been staring at the mirror for five minutes. She had been ready for ten. As the bell chimed, she jumped. Toveka went to the door and inhaled deeply before opening it.
If she had been nervous before hand, she was petrified now. He cut such a striking picture she actually forgot to invite him in. Her own dress * was a silvery grey with matching strappy heels *. Her hair was pulled up in a bun but several strands around her neck and temples were ‘loose’ and curled to frame her face like a staged mistake. Her makeup was artfully applied. A touch of khol to her eyes to line them and a tasteful lipstick in a mauve that complimented her skin tone perfectly. She had a silver chain around her neck and a matching chain around her wrist. Both held a small charm of a tiny silver round cage with a small bead inside of lightest blue.
It took her a moment but she finally blinked and smiled. “Tenkiller… please… come in. Sorry.” She stepped aside to let him in.

Or Skip. Most folks I’m friends with do.” and he cast a long, obviously appreciative look at her and her attire. “Now if ya had worn that when you came to my office about the shuttle, I probably woulda given you the keys right then and there.” and then he looked directly at her. “You look beautiful, Toveka. Amazing, even.” and he leaned forward and kissed her cheek lightly.
Tenkiller, CoS
Taking the flowers, she smiled. And blushed when he complimented her. “I’ll keep that in mind next time I’m on the defensive end of an argument with me.” She had moved to the cabinets over the replicator and removed a gorgeous black and purple vase. Setting the roses in the water from the sink, she smiled. “They are gorgeous. I hope your dept to the Botanicals isn’t too high, now.” She turned to face him, leaning back on the table a few steps away from him. “You look pretty amazing, yourself, Ten… Charles.” She nodded in acknowledgment.
Toveka
CSO“I scrub up okay, do I?” he asked with a smile. “Well, shall we? Dinner awaits. And then dessert.” and he winked. Offering her his arm, he activated the door.
Tenkiller
“Yeah… ok I guess…” She laughed and took his arm. In the heels, she was almost even with his height. As they moved down the corridor, she nodded to several folks who nodded to them. Ten was occasionally spoken to, but no one did more than nod to the science Chief. “I think they have no idea who you are with. You realize that, don’t you? I’ve been here a couple years and no one’s ever seen me like this.” She wasn’t sure if the realization surprised or worried her.
Toveka
CSOHe shrugged and said “I s’pose they’ll get used to it after we go out a few more times. Besides… who really gives a damn what they think? I’m here with you. And looking like that, lady, as far as I’m concerned you’re the only one on this station with me.” and they stepped onto the Promenade.
It was at it’s normal crowded level for the time of night. The bars and clubs and restaurants were open and a myriad of species and groups milled about shopping and taking in what the station had to offer. A passing Security patrol nodded at their Chief, and he just said “Eyes on a swivel, gents.” and then led Toveka into the din of voices and noise.
A few moments later, they arrived at their destination. The Grotto was one of the few upscale dining establishments on the station, and had a reputation for excellent food and drink. As they walked in, the Maitre’d looked at them and said “Commander, hello. Please, your table is ready.” and he led them into the dining room. They were seated besides a large fountain that rested in the center of the room, and the soft splash of the water eased the sound of the conversations around them. Tenkiller pulled her chair out and gently pushed her towards the table as she sat, and then sat himself facing the door.
Tenkiller
The idea he had already claimed her future actions was an odd sensation to her. Part of her was a bit concerned that he would take liberties and assume she enjoyed this evening so much that she would be willing to repeat the process with him. The other part… the louder part… was trying to remind her that that was a normal thing for a man to do when he liked the woman he was with.
As they were welcomed into the establishment and he helped her sit, she murmured, “Thank you.” Once he was seated, she smiled. “This is a beautiful place Te… Charles. Thank you. I probably would have spent my whole time on this station and never come here.” She smiled and laughed lightly. “Guess I need to get out more.”
Toveka
CSO“I’m happy to oblige in that arena, if you like.” he said quietly and the waiter came over. Tenkiller looked at Toveka and said “Wine?”
Tenkiller, CoS
She looked down and then back up at him. “Thank you..” she fell silent and watched him with the waiter. At the question, she nodded. “Yes, please. Thank you.” After the waiter had gone, she glanced around. “So I guess you’ve been here a few times?” she laughed. “Perhaps you can recommend something for my dinner?”
Toveka
CSOHe looked around and said “Nope. First time.” and then he looked at her and said “But I asked where was the best place to eat with an intelligent, beautiful, strong-willed woman was and everybody said here.” and he smiled and winked at her.
Tenkiller, CoS
“Charles… stop…” she blushed and hid it in the water glass she chose to sip from. “I’m sorry. I just …” She sighed but tried to maintain the smile. “I’m just not used to the attention. I haven’t been on an actual ‘date’ since before the Academy. I’m not exactly most men’s dream woman.” She laughed.
“I hope you can be patient, please.” She smiled and set her glass down.
Toveka
CSOHe laughed and said “Well, most men are kinda dense. All the better for me.” and he raised his own glass and took a drink. “And I’ll try to stop, but just so you know… I meant every word.” and he grinned at her slightly. “Even if I I did say them to make you blush.” and he winked at her again.
The wine arrived, and Tenkiller looked at the waiter. “We have never been here before, sir. What do you recommend?” The waiter looked slightly startled at being called ‘sir’, but recovered quickly. “Well… um… well sir, my personal favorite is the seafood bisque followed by grilled Bajoran beef skewers.” Tenkiller nodded and looked at Toveka. “Ladies first.”
Tenkiller
Toveka smiled. “Well it seems my blushing is your new habit. I cannot say I whole heartedly support it,” she laughed softly, “but I am flattered it is myblush you want to see.”
Thankfully the waiter showed up. As the man spoke, Toveka smiled. “I think it sounds good. I’ll have that.”
Toveka
CSOTenkiller said “Make it two. And thank you for the recommendation.” and he lifted his now full wine glass to Toveka and said “Thank you for a lovely evening, Toveka.”
Tenkiller, CoS
She lifted her glass towards his and smiled. “Thank you for asking, Charles.” She tapped her glass to his and smiled as she took a sip. Setting her glass on the table, her hands playing with the stem and base. “I have to admit, I am enjoying myself.” She smiled at him and it was more relaxed. “If I don’t know how to act, I’m sorry.” She reached down and brushed an invisible wrinkle from her dress. “And I had to ask the Doc to help me pick out the dress.” She looked up and laughed, it was genuine but was still uncomfortable. But she seemed to be getting better at sharing that part of herself with him. “The rumors of me not owning many clothes are true. I hadn’t taken much to the Academy with me because I had planned on going home before my first station.” Her voice hitched a moment as a lump dropped down her throat and into her gut. “But then this happened,” she motioned out the window to indicate the loss of her planet. “So I lost everything. I just never bothered to replace it. Being so absorbed in work, I didn’t see a need to have recreational clothes beyond what I need for working out.” She went silent and looked back at him, her smile once more soft and personal towards him.

CSO
(opening up?… whwhhaaattt???)Tenkiller looked at her, and his look was sincere and caring. “I’m really sorry, Toveka. But no matter about out there, what’s gone, you still gotta live your life. And if I can help you do that, outside of the lab and maybe with a smile nor three, I’d like to. You are…” and he took a long pause as he looked in her eyes, “… you are amazing. Utterly. And I’m not saying that you make you blush. I’m saying that because right now, right here… I cant think of a damn soul I’d rather see sitting in that chair right there. I know you have loss… but maybe it’s time you spent a bit of your time… not all, but some… focusing on what is, not what was.” and he reached forward and set his hand gently on hers.
Tenkiller, CoS
Her face was locked on his as he spoke. No one had spoken to her like that. Not even ‘before’ the Academy. As her eyes welled, she smiled. His hand on hers made her smile and she laughed. “I’ll need help. I don’t know how, to be honest.” She lifted her napkin to wipe her eyes but she didn’t move her hand from under his. She wasn’t crying, yet, but the edge of it was right there. Dabbing her eyes, she smiled again. “So I guess asking for the Runabout every other day will probably be denied?” She laughed and it was back to being a bit more relaxed then the night in her quarters.
Toveka
CSOA sly grin crossed his face, and a twinkle sparked in his eyes as he cocked his head to the side, locked her gaze with his… and then slowly lowered then to about eight inches below her chin, then slowly brought them back up. “Well now… I dunno. Depends on how nicely ya ask, I guess.” and he took a sip of wine. He was laughing hysterically inside, his obvious innuendo met to reestablish the blush to her cheeks, and maybe dry her eyes a bit.
Tenkiller, CoS
Unaware of his desired affect, she granted both. She laughed and blushed clear to her feet. Her eyes drying as she felt the heat rise in her body. Her mind momentarily wondering what his touch would feel like over that same short 8 inches of her body he stared so prominently at. “Perhaps I don’t need it every other day after all.” She laughed to tease him that he wouldn’t get her to bend so easily. At least, not here.
Her mind made her change the subject and she looked at him, her hand still under his. “Why are you here, Charles? I mean, on this station, so far from Earth. You have a whole group of people on Earth you said you are the Leader, or at least one of the Leaders of. Why are you out here?” She was secretly glad he was. But his reasons would make a difference to how far she let things go. If he was here cause of orders and would be rotating back soon as he got a chance, then this would be a great friendship but no more. If there were other reasons… the heat in her belly grew, and frightened her, because of what she thought she may be capable of with him. And it frightened her because the prospect of it elated her.
Toveka
CSOHe chuckled and shook his head. “That, my dear Scientist, is a conversation best had somewhere a bit more private. Not that its embarrassing or anything, but I happen to see some soup bowls headed this way.”
As if on cue, the waiter appeared and sat the seafood bisque down. The aroma was herbal, oceanic, and mouth watering. Tenkiller smelled it and said “Now, I ain’t no stranger to a fish fry… but we ain’t never had catfish done like this.” and he laughed. “Smells amazing, don’t it?”
Tenkiller, CoS
She pulled her hand back from his as it arrived, her wine glass pushed aside for the bowl as she smiled. “It does smell pretty amazing.” She dipped her spoon in and blew on the surface before taking a sip from the small bowled utensil. “It takes better than it looks, too.” She smiled and took another bite. “Mmmmm it’s a good choice.” This time it was ‘her’ turn to look him slowly up and down as she said it. Her words meaning both the soup and him.
They spent the rest of the soup and most of dinner with bantering and back and forth chatter of hobbies, or lack there of, and other small talk.
As they were nearly done with dinner, Toveka smiled. “I am curious what they have on their dessert menu, now.” Her mind having completely forgotten that dessert was to be in his quarters.
Toveka
CSOHe smiled broadly and shook his head. “Oh no no no… how quickly we have forgotten. Think back, gorgeous… dessert is at my place. Remember?” and he chuckled
Tenkiller, CoS
Her eyes widened as she realized she had forgotten he had said his quarters. She felt her heart race and tried to sound calm. “Oh, I mean… I thought you were joking.” She looked around wondering if her nervousness at returning to his quarters was obvious to everyone. Glancing back at him, she nodded. “Of, course. I mean, you did say that, right?” She lifted her napkin from her lap to wipe her lips and laid it on the table.
Toveka
CSOTenkiller laughed softly and said “Yeah… we need to work on your poker face. Tell like that and I might be led to believe that you were a tad nervous ‘bout headin’ up to my place.” and he looked up and thanked the server as he came over with two cold chocolate mints. He then looked Toveka as he pooped the mint in his mouth and winked yet again at her. “Shall we?”
Tenkiller, CoS
She used the mint to hide her inability to think of what else to say or do. “Of course,” she replied and rose from her seat to follow him out. Once in the hall, she smiled. “I suppose I don’t have a good poker face. Never played, actually. Though there are several in Science who have a weekly game with engineering that happens.”
