Posted by Lieutenant Sofia Demakis (Chief of Security) in Counselor’s Office - CoS check in Posted by… suppressed (17) by the Post Ghost! 👻 After checking in with sickbay, Sofia knew her next stop should be the CNS for a psych eval. She wagered this could either go very well or very badly, it was best to avoid reacting emotionally to anything the CNS might ask. Her emotions on what transpired on the Infatigable were still somewhat fresh, somewhat raw. It was hard to just ‘get over’ actually having to investigate her own superior’s death. : : : : : : : : People either were quick to judge her, others seemed to respect her nerve to actually charge the Captain with the crime. It had been a rather stupid reason to kill a person, Mike Bishop had found out Captain Jacobi was essentially black-balling her XO to prevent him from getting his own command and she killed him for it. Still more people tended to offer their own opinions on the matter, it was why she hoped this transfer to OP 42 would help her leave that behind somewhat. : : : : : : : : Stepping up to the CNS Office, she rang the chime and waited to see if the CNS was in and could provide her with her boarding pysch eval. : : : : : : : : ~Sofia Demakis~ : : : : : : OOC: My apologies on my late arrival, I was busy helping to deliver my grandson and recuperating:) : : : : : : IC: : : : “Come.”Came a deeply, melodious voice from within. When the doors whooshed open, Sofia would see a very statuesque woman sitting behind the desk. The Counselor was El Aurian with deeply rich brown skin and as usual was attired in a matching robe and turban set. Her dark, curly hair was wound up in the turban. Her ebony dark eyes looked up from the padd she was reading as she rose and set said padd onto her desk. : : : : : : One elegant hand swept out to indicate the seating area, one step down and to the side of her desk area. The seating area was richly carpeted and decorated in autumn tones. The couch and chairs were plush and comfortable. : : : “Please, come in.” Chandel said as she moved out from her desk toward the seating area, where she waited for Sofia to enter. : : : : : : Counselor Chandel : : : : “Thanks,” Sofia stepped in, her dark eyes scanning the room, “I’m Lieutenant Sofia Demakis, I’m the new Security Chief around here and wanted to stop by for my boarding psych eval if you have an opening, if not I can set an appointment for a mutually agreeable time.” : : : : ~Sofia Demakis~ : : “I am free now, Lieutenant. Why don’t you have a seat?” Chandel invited as she too took a seat on one end of the couch. “We have something in common, we are new to the station.”She added with a smile. : : Counselor Chandel “Great, thank you,” Sofia stepped in, taking a seat on the opposite end of the couch, angled toward the CNS, “Been here long?” She asked by way of making conversation. ~Sofia Demakis~

“No, just a few days. So I am just getting use to things and meeting people. How are you settling in?” Chandel asked as she positioned herself more comfortably and facing Sofia on an angle as well with her hands folded in her lap.

Counselor Chandel

“So far so good, my department appears to be staffed with some good helpful people,” Sofia explained, “This is my first assignment on an Outpost, but second as Security Chief, so it’s a little different from running security on a starship to be sure, but I think I’ll manage just fine.”

~Sofia Demakis~

Chandel smiled widely,”Yes, indeed it is quite an adjustment. I, myself was born and raised on ships so this is the first stationary position I have had myself as well. I find the
atmosphere of the station very interesting. Almost like a city or town on a planet but still being in space. A bit unusual really.”She said with a twinkle in her eye.”Hard to describe.”

Counselor Chandel

“I spent a lot of time on Starships, both parents are officers,” she nodded, “Though I did spend quite a bit of time on Earth, specifically Athens, Greece where my father’s parents live. I did get the chance to join my mom when she was assigned to Starbase 117, so I was always somewhat familiar with the starbase and it’s marked differences from the starship. Still, quite a difference from experiencing it as a ten year old kid versus being a Chief of Security as an adult.”

~Sofia Demakis~

“Indeed, I have found it so as well.”Chandel said with easy agreement,”It sounds like Starfleet may run in your family, do you have other members who have been in the Fleet?” She asked curiously.

Counselor Chandel

“Both parents, three out of four grandparents, my younger sister’s a cadet now,” Sofia replied, “My father’s Captain of the Asguard, my mother is a doctor on the Halifax. My paternal grandfather was an Admiral before he retired.”

~Sofia Demakis~

“Wow. You are continuing quite the tradition. How did you feel about that?” Chandel asked, curious to see if it had been Sofia’s choice or if she had felt compelled to do so by the tradition.

Counselor Chandel

“I never felt any pressure to join,” Sofia replied, “My parents always were open about their chosen profession, really just providing me with the facts and permitting me to make my own decision. My father once told me that pressuring me to do something because they felt it was right would not lead to anything useful, I had to actively want it myself in order to push myself to keep going when things got rougher,” she explained.

~Sofia Demakis~

Chandel smiled.”You are a very balanced person, Sofia so I would say your parents were very successful. Do you have any questions for me?”

Counselor Chandel

“Well, I should mention that I may need some regular meetings,” Sofia explained, “Probably not too often, however I was regularly seeing my previous CNS due to the fact that my first act as Chief of Security on the Infatigable, I was investigating my superior officer’s murder. The murderer actually turned out to be the CO as well, just for an extra rare twist. I feel like I’ve handled it well, but I may need the occasional chat session to work through whatever latent emotions might crop up from it. My previous counselor’s notes should be on my file, but she believed it was wise for me to continue to occasionally check in with the CNS, though my awareness of my emotions around the issue will probably ensure that problems do not result from it.”

~Sofia Demakis~

Chandel’s brow raised as indeed she had not noted that on the Sofia’s file. “How do you feel about what you had to do?”She asked making a note to herself to check the facts of the incident and the previous CNS’ notes so she could stay abreast of Sofia’s progress.

Counselor Chandel

“I did what was necessary,” Sofia spoke evenly, “My superior officer, Lt. Commander Michael Bishop was murdered, it was very clear early in the investigation that someone on that ship did it. I owed it to his family and his friends to find out who did it and why. I couldn’t bring him back, but I could give them some closure in that regard. I found the most perplexing part of this whole mess was the judgments I got after the fact. People who seemed to think that I shouldn’t have prosecuted my own Commanding Officer. I suppose it might’ve bothered me more had I not been able to focus on the fact I was providing some semblance of justice to Bishop’s memory. I can handle people questioning my authority, within reason, but to judge me because I had the audacity to pursue the truth seemed quite odd.”

~Sofia Demakis~

Chandel was impressed about Sofia’s mature outlook on the manner. Most people might have felt doubtful of their own actions and constantly second guess themselves. She appeared to have a very solid sense of her own idea of justice and right. “That is a very mature and balanced way to look at it, Sofia. Do you suffer any difficulties sleeping or dreams in regard to the incident?”

Counselor Chandel

“Not lately, I did in the beginning,” Sofia explained, “My counselor at the time helped me work through the emotions related to it. The nightmares were natural in some respect, I didn’t exactly go through anything that anyone would consider ‘normal shipboard operations’. Truth be told, my nightmares were probably far worse before I solved Bishop’s murder, because I knew someone did it on the ship and it was up to me to figure out who.”

~Sofia Demakis~

Chandel nodded,”Perfectly natural. Well, Sofia I do not have any concerns with you at the moment in that regard. I would like to see you a few more times to see that you are still as stable. I think you are over the worst of it though. “

Counselor Chandel

“Of course, once I meet my department and figure out my schedule, I’ll arrange some meetings at times that work best for the both of us,” Sofia nodded.

~Sofia Demakis~

“Sounds good, Lieutenant.” Chandel said as she rose to walk Sofia out. She was quite impressed by the crew of the station, all of whom she had met now and thought they were going to be a good team to work with.

Counselor Chandel

“Thank you for making the time today to meet with me,” Sofia replied, rising from her seat as well, “I look forward to working with you.”

~Sofia Demakis~

“And I with you, Lieutenant. “Chandel said with a smile as they reached the doors of her office and they whooshed open. After Sofia left Chandel returned to her desk to work on the update of her files now that this particular batch of initial interviews was finished. She had met with the majority of the senior staff with only the Captain left to try to find a way to drag him in here or corner him somewhere. She let that thought percolate as she worked.
