Nikki gave a light snort. “Worst thing the ‘fleet did was change uniforms,” he said without a pause; evidently he had that thought in mind many a time. “Course if they were dressed like you nobody would get anything done.” His eyes quickly slid over her again and chuckled to himself as he remembered earlier when he did that and her reaction. While it had come across as a ‘snappy’ slap in the face it only had encouraged him. He wanted to know a little more about her, and the dress was a good start. “So dollface,” he said in his best Iotian accent, eyes amused as if testing her on his way of speaking, “When yer not actin official in uniform or lettin yer hair down like now, what do ya lounge about in?”

Nay giggled and absent mindedly tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. “That’s probably why they changed them, too much time keeping an eye on the ladies instead of the sensors!” she replied with a cheeky wink. She raised an eyebrow at his dollface comment as she looked deep into his eyes and pondered a response. With a sultry smile she replied, “…maybe that’s for you to find out Lt…?” she whispered, surprising herself with the rather forward comment.

Nikki’s eyes drifted about the room, catching the eye of a waiter and giving a quick nod before returning to Nay. He purposely let his eyes meet hers then drift along the pronounced curves that the dress revealed, then nodded. “Yer probably right,” he said with his mind in the last century’s dress code. One of me relatives who was there at that time wrote in his diary that he thought the dames of his time could learn a thing or two from the dresses of Kirk’s women and that the men on the Enterprise could use a good tailor instead of running about in their pajamas.” But then given how the dames dressed did they need to change out of their pajamas? he considered. Her smile could have melted a duranium hull. A lesser man may have blushed and looked away, though Nikki had grown up in the back and forth of banter, playful or otherwise. He was getting the distinct feeling that there was more to this than playful banter. Had he read her wrong before? Or was this another, far more sensual facet to her? Leaning in and resting his chin at his palm, a finger gazing speculatively at her as though to give a thoughtful consideration of her words, his eyes expressing his unspoken answer of ‘I’d like that’, he said instead, “Perhaps I will,” then, “and lass, it’s Nikki. If ye drop the rank title again I’ll have te put ye over me knee.” His tone was a mix of light with an undertone of challenge and dare.

Nay gave him a cheeky wink as she replied. “Is that a promise…Lt?” she whispered, teasing him with a grin and a raised eyebrow. She wasn’t sure if he was joking or not but she was enjoying the game.

Had the lass been drinking before coming here? Her breath .. and he was close enough to so taste it . Was clear. Her wink was a challenge. Her look something that he could not really read. But in this case he could be brutally honest. “Oh yes, lass. I promise ye.” And, inside he was hoping she’d challenge that. Looking around he saw the people filling the place. Well, hopefully not here. His look in return was not teasing but one that was straight to not be a foil for her so seductive reply but one that would give her a certainty of what may come.

Shifting over in the chair to be, if only briefly, to be closer to her, he leaned in and, right hand on the menu and the left reaching out to lay lightly on her forearm to catch her attention, he caught her eye then asked, “What do ye think of the fish menu here? I’m a takin it that the ‘Latoli’ is a local fish, but it blackened and with the rice and greens, it looks pretty good.” His hand lifted to point to where he was reading on the menu. Her perfume was heady and she radiated a warmth that he could feel. Glancing back to her then to her menu he was curious what she was looking at.

Sakai felt an electric excitement as she felt Nikki’s hand on her arm and it momentarily caught her breath. As she felt herself relax a little she instinctively leaned in a little further. “I’ve not tried it personally, but it does sound lovely. I’m leaning towards the Palamarian sea urchin, I’ve heard that it’s quite delicious,” she added, smiling as she felt Nikki’s breath softly on her cheek.

It was still fish and it did sound like something the family chef would pull out - depending of course on how it was made. “Ya favor fish, Nay?” he asked. If he had his own druthers, he’d pretty much stay with a vegetarian diet with fish mixed in - with, he added, the occasional lamb. In replicator-land of course he could replicate a glass of water and it would have whatever other nutrients he needed in it. Personally he thought that was cheating and no fun at all. To live on ice cream sundae’s and know that they were perfectly healthy was just wrong. With a last glance at the menu he tossed it down on the table. “That settles that. I’d suggest a Risan White from the Davison vineyards and,” he paused, thinking, “and Andorian ice wine te finish.” He glanced about at the place and mentally shook his head. It would be a miracle if they had the real stuff here, but in this place beggars couldn’t be choosers. He glanced about as if to make sure nobody was about then leaned in, “Between you and me I’m a sucker for the ice wine.” Whether by intent or not he had brought his lips in close to her ear. After having said that he winked and shifted back, but not as far away as he had been before.

Nay smiled as she thought back to meals at home with her family and she let out a little laugh. “I do indeed favour fish, my father would have disowned me if I didn’t! When I was a little girl, he used to take us out for hours by the lake to fish. My sister usually got bored and wandered off, my brother was very good though. For me it was more about time with my father though…” she said with a nostalgic smile. “Do you like to fish?” she pondered as she studied him. Nikki seemed like a man of action so she imagined he’d be pretty good with a fishing rod.

Listening to her Nikki pictured those moments as best he could. It sounded very sedate. He felt a momentary impulse of anxiety when thinking of being on world and forced his mind to picture her with the family. “Was it on a boat or off a dock?” he asked. He presumed the latter if her sister could walk off unless she could walk on water. “Where was this?” he continued asking. “Paint me a picture, Nay.” He did, however answer her question. “Te be honest, only once. And that was off a larger boat and more deep sea. We fished with heavy line off the back of it as the seas were not so still. The boat was movin and the lines were dragging along the back. While we were waitin te see if anything bit we shot some skeet off the sides.” He shook his head. “Me stomach was no small way challenged. Shot horribly that day but I did catch some fish, one of them a Risan Pike. I’ll have that bad boy up on my wall when me gear arrives.”

Nay smiled warmly as her thoughts took her back home. “Neither actually, it was a park on the outskirts of my home city, Kyoto. Much of the original culture and scenery has been preserved over the years and there is a beautiful fishing spot by the Higashiyama Jisho-Ji Temple. In the summer the trees are a luscious bright green and my father knew a secluded spot where we could fish in peace…we would often take a picnic and spend the day fishing and wandering around the beautiful gardens…” she spoke fondly of her childhood as she was lost in her memories momentarily. “Perhaps I could show you on the holodeck some time?” she offered with a smile. She chuckled as he recalled his fishing trip and nodded in agreement. “I never had the stomach for it at sea either!” she replied as she saw the mental image of Nikki staggering about on a boat.

He tried to picture it and hoped he did okay there. The temples were likely muddled in his mind but the rest he hoped was so. He honestly did prefer the wild. The open ocean even if he did get a stomach that felt like it was going to mutiny on him. “It was good fun. Leavin the rods for the fish to bite and the skeet shooting off the side. That was a challenge.” Oh it was and one that he had not done well with. Sure he had had a bit much to drink and that didn’t help but he tried. Usually pretty good at it he was frustrated. Then there was the alert that there was a fish on the line. An hour and more of battling that. He loved it and the fish still was with him. And the memory of his stomach heaving at the worst time. “I think that you’d need te show me those gardens, Nay,” he said. “It sounds lovely.” Really it sounded rather girly to him. He was hoping it would be in blossom. That he enjoyed to take in, the smells of the spring blossoms. The rest? The lass liked it. He’d have to see it.

As Nikki leaned in, Nay’s heart skipped a beat as she caught the scent of his aftershave and felt his warm breath graze her ear. She gulped as she turned to face him so they were just a couple of inches away from each other. “I don’t believe I’ve ever had it…” she said softly, “but I’m willing to give anything a go…” she added as he pulled away. She lingered for a moment, almost willing him to lean back in as she subconsciously moistened her lips before withdrawing.

Their moment was broken by the approach of the waiter. When she turned he could virtually taste her breath and he instinctively breathed in deeper to take in more of her before he leaned back to address the waiter. “I’ll have blackened latoli, and the lass will have the Palamarian sea urchin.” He glanced at her to make sure that was the final choice there before continuing. “When dinner comes bring a bottle of Davison Risan White. If ye have the real stuff, make it anything before ‘72.” They’d not talked about appetizers, but the lass was making up for that all by herself. “I’ll have a glass of yer best copper ale and,” he glanced at the menu, “as an appetizer the buttered escargot looks good. What would ye like te drink te start Nay?” he asked. They hadn’t quite got that far. “Or any other appetizer?”

Nay had a quick look again at the drinks menu. “I’ll have a Samarian Sunset please,” she requested, quickly switching to a more professional tone than the one she had been using with Nikki.

When the order was over and the waiter gone he turned his attention back to Nay. Nikki did lean in again, remembering her look and her lips. “Aye, it is a part of life te not be afraid te try new things.” His hand slid to her knee and gave it a squeeze. “Ye’re here. Way out here in the middle of nowhere. That takes guts.” He remembered her words and added. “Anything kin happen. Ye make yer future with each day.”

Nay’s breath caught for a moment as she felt Nikki’s hand on her knee and she got that electric buzz again. She gazed into his eyes and smiled. “As are you Nikki, whether by choice or not,” she added as she instinctively moved closer. “Besides which, half of the fun of trying new things is sharing it with someone…” she added quietly as she mirrored him and gently placed her hand on his leg.

Her wrist crossed his and he felt her hand on his knee. What was the lass on about? It was true that he was here and he was still trying to figure out how in the heavens he did get here. But here he was with the lass. She was so different from the ‘session’ earlier. And very much … well, even Nikki had trouble defining it. She moved closer. Enough to better take in her perfume, her eyes. They had ordered dinner but right now he was only envisioning Nay as the main course on the table. His hand squeezed at her leg, leaning in more, the people around him becoming more oblivious and irrelevant. His mind tried to get at what she meant. The now and the professional dame earlier was totally different. Sure she was about as professional as a schizophrenic at a picnic but at dinner here she was presenting herself well as the main course. And Nikki was hungry. Her hand on his leg caused him to move it closer to her, as did himself. “I think we have a lot to share, lass,” he said. It had been a long time for Nikki for any kind of intimacy and that was influencing him now, in this situation. The dame was like a flame and he was the willing moth. He didn’t much like not being the one in control. His eyes looked into hers, then along her and back up. His mind ran through a lot of things to say, many of which would render a slap in the face. He wanted to know what made her tick and was thinking that maybe the best time for that was when they were in bed, after. They were both outside the normal ‘familiarity’ …of what they were used to. Both of them were out of their element. Would it be like him taking advantage of her? Maybe it was something good. His paranoid mind allowed him that much. “We are two different people, Nay, and have a lot that we can share new things with. I fer one welcome anything that ye can teach me.”
- Nikki

Nay felt her cheeks flushing at the intimacy of the moment as she nodded with a coy smile. “I’d like that very much…” she said softly as she leaned in further still. It wasn’t like her to be so forward on a first date but there was something about Nikki that she found irresistible . She found him exciting and unpredictable, which given her training she wasn’t used to. She could normally read most people like a book but it seemed that every page she turned on Nikki revealed a new chapter. As she gazed into his eyes, Nay knew that she wanted him, yearned for him even. As she slid her hand a little further up his leg, she instinctively moistened her lips, her eyes begging him to kiss her. As her pulse quickened, a dozen thoughts raced through her mind as she closed her eyes.

Had the lass been drinking before? Normally about this point he would have, with one of his wives, cancelled dinner or had his face slapped. A thought crossed his mind as her hand slid up his leg that she was a plant, that someone was out for him and she was the bait. She leaned in and her eyes fluttered closed. What was a man to do, he thought. He could simply resist her. It wasn’t that he’d not been around that block before, but here he was with her, this enigma that he had no code for unlocking. Yet here she was with the doors flung wide open for him. Her hand on his thigh taunted him, promising more and her look was drawing him in like a planet to a black hole. Was he ‘that’ easy? Seeing her eyes close, her lips, her hand … he had to confess that tonight he was .. this was a new home. Might as well make it a comfortable one. As his head tipped in to return her kiss …

With an impeccable sense of time the waiter placed their drinks in front of them with a smile, shattering the moment, as Nay gave him a weak smile. “Thank you,” she said as the waiter nodded his head and scurried off to fetch their appetizer. As he walked off, a little scowl came across her face. “…thank you very much…” she added with a note of sarcasm and a little sigh.

.. his head pulled back and only then realized that his body was tense and had frankly responded to her. He turned to see the clink of the glasses on the table. He nodded at the waiter and saw in his own ‘nod’ a hint of a smirk. That in any other time would not have bothered him. This time it did, feeling caught red handed. His hand slid off her leg but trailing along to her knee before letting go. Picking up his drink a tall, thin, coppery ale he looked at it. Then, looking at her, he raised it. “To new beginnings, Nay,” he said, catching her eyes. They had a fire in them. She didn’t like being interrupted and her tone spoke that in spades. Clinking glasses he took a long drink with his eyes not leaving her.

Picking up her own drink, still with a faint scowl on her brow, she clinked glasses with Nikki as she savoured a sip of the delicious cocktail. As the sweet nectar trickled down her throat, she noticed that Nikki was still watching her as she put her glass back down.

“I have something te tell ye lass,” he said after the drink. The glass was still in his hand as he leaned in as if to say something. But, as he was getting near his hand came to her nape and pulled her to his lips for a fierce, hungry kiss. Only pulling back reluctantly, lips tingling and feeling a degree or two warmer, his eyes met hers. She would not that he was not letting her go. “I think that makes up for that wee interruption.” He pulled back just enough to look about to see whether there were any other offending waiters coming, deathly efficient in bring the food.

Nay momentarily tensed as he pulled her in close but as soon as their lips touched, her inhibitions went out of the window. His passion excited her, almost to the point of exhilaration. As they kissed, she closed her eyes and felt her heart race and her cheeks flush as she savoured the moment, praying that time would freeze and allow them to stay here. As he pulled away, a soft moan of satisfaction escaped her lips before she opened her eyes and finally took a breath. She found him intoxicating, and for a brief moment it felt like they were in their own world. “I’ll say…” she whispered with a smile as she looked deep into his stunning green eyes. A million thoughts ran through her head about what she wanted to do with him, most of which they would probably be arrested for in public. It scared her a little that she was falling for him so quickly but she couldn’t help herself, something about him made her heart skip a beat. As she spied the waiter trundling over with their appetiser, she leaned in close and whispered in his ear. “We could always get dinner to go…” she suggested, a hint of mischievousness in her eyes.

Nikki was pleasantly surprised at the heat in which she kissed him. He liked that. A lack of passion in life he did not understand, and all the moreso in things of a more intimate nature. That was important to him for any relationship. Flash in the pan meetings could die out as quickly as brandy aflame in that same pan. It may leave a fine taste afterward but then only a memory. The taste of the sweet drink on her lips overwrote the light bitter of the beer on his. Strangely he found it to be an appropriate mix. By the end of that kiss he had found his fingers wrapped in her hair and it was with a reluctance that he looked away when her eyes caught the waiter, but he didn’t miss her look and the tone that accompanied it. Nikki thought that if the lass was so keen they could have bypassed this meal for another. The idea of ‘my place or hers’ was a mute point unless she preferred deck to a bed. Though with the look in her eyes and the way her hand had trailed over his leg Nikki wondered if she would even notice.

By the time she finished her words the appetizer had arrived. “Good call, lass,” he said, turning to the waiter and glancing at the food. It was pretty well presented for a ‘bar’ and it did not look too bad. “Thank ye,” he said as his fingers released her hair but slid along her shoulder as he pulled back. That was automatic to be good to the waiter from his years of being waited on. His fingers found Nay’s under the table and squeezed. “We’ll have the main course te go,” he said, “but refresh the drinks,” doing so without a concern of how it might look. He kept his gaze on him to ensure that he didn’t smirk or comment but after a moment nodded and left. Turning back to Nay he appreciated how she looked and the fire that simmered behind her eyes. “We’ll sample this while we wait fer our box.” His hand on hers moved it up and down her thigh, being careful to not touch her himself; an evident tease. “We’d best have a little,” he said with a smile. “Te keep up our strength.”

OOC: Bump ..

Nay grinned at his teasing touch as she nodded at his suggestion. “A wise course of action…” she said playfully as she plucked a snail from the plate with her fork, the sumptuous smell of butter and garlic wafting across the table. Leaning in close to Nikki, she playfully brought the morsel up to within an inch of his mouth and then promptly put it in her own with a giggle. She smiled as the warm butter trickled down her throat. “Ladies first I presume?” she asked as she picked up another one but this time let him have a taste as well. She delicately licked the butter from her lips, resisting the urge to lick his as well. “You like?” she asked, only partly referring to the food.
