=^=How’s Danté?=^= On her way from the Infirmary to the Outpost’s counselor, Dierdre had decided to check in with her family. It would be among the last few times she could before duty would, once more, consume her life.

=^=He’s fine. I fed him some of that mush. I can’t say he liked it very much, but he ate it.=^=

=^=He didn’t like it, or you didn’t like it?=^= It amused her, Dev’s opposition to her choice in weaning Danté onto semi-solid foods. He believed formula was perfect, as it was simple and didn’t require him to have his fingers covered in pureed vegetables or fruits. Dierdre, however, preferred the nutrition of whole foods to the synthetic formula most places had to offer.

=^=I think a bit of both.=^= Dev responded. =^=At least, judging by the carrot mustache and orange fingers, I think he had more fun playing with it than he did eating it.=^=

=^=He’s six months old, what did you expect?=^= She subdued her laughter with a smile. A soft sigh escaped her lips the closer she edged to the Counselor’s office. =^=Well, give him a kiss for me. I got to go; I’ll see you two tonight.=^=

=^=Will do. Have fun.=^=

Allowing her hand to hover above her badge for a second, Dree couldn’t help but grin. Danté and Dev were a reminder that there was life outside of Starfleet, but they equally served as encouragement for her career within it. Musing to herself a moment, Dierdre tapped the chime. It was her last stop before she could head down to meet with her new team.

Lt. Navarro, CoS

Sakai looked up from her desk as she heard the chime. “Come in!” she called out as she quickly typed up the last sentence of her previous evaluation. She quickly smoothed her hair and straightened her crumpled uniform as she stood to greet her guest.

Lt Sakai (CNS)

Navarro took the invitation with a smile. “Afternoon, Counselor.” She bid her greeting by a curt wave. “Lieutenant Dierdre Navarro,” Dree offered a hand, “I was hoping you had a few minutes to spare for a quick boarding evaluation. If you’re busy, I can return later.”

Nay smiled warmly as she welcomed Navarro in. “Of course, please do come in,” she replied as she gestured to the empty seat. “Can I get you something to drink?” she added as she wandered over to the replicator.

Lt Sakai (CNS)

“Call me mundane, but water is sounding strangely nice.” Navarro settled into the chair. “Has your day gone well so far?” Out of habit, Diedre felt inclined to ask about the person she was sitting down with.

Nay smiled as she ordered a water and set it down in front of Navarro. “One water as ordered,” she said with a smile. She thought about ordering a coffee but she was pretty buzzed from the 10 she’d already had so went for a Jasmine tea instead. As she took her seat, she was a little surprised at the question, it wasn’t often people asked her how she was doing. She smiled warmly and nodded. “Pretty good thank you, a little busy but then it’s always the same settling into a new role,” she mused as she sipped her tea. “I haven’t been here that long myself,” she added as she brought up Navarro’s file.

“So, tell me Lt, what brings you here? To the Outpost I mean?” she added.
