Snip : : : : : : Duncan smiled at her, she sounded a little worried he was leaving and it was kind of cute. Kind of, she had just had her foot on his crotch and was growling at him in public. “I’m not going anywhere, the party has only just started and I thought I could get some dinner, relax a bit and see how the evening goes here, maybe fill in some reports. I would love one of these toasted sandwiches, this one with macaroni cheese filling, and another mocha, raspberry with chocolate sprinkle. For dessert, I will try some of the house special, Ambrosia. Nobody makes it quite like my Gran, if Evie can make it anything like it then I would probably give her a kiss.” Duncan winked as he spoke, he did have something business related to talk privately to Evie about later on that night, but that was for Evie to know. “You can put it on my account.” : : : : : : “And my name” he looked at her leant forwards as if it was a big secret, meant only for her ears. “My name is Duncan Rhodes, the account will be under the ‘Rhodes Foundation’, just put it all on that and I will square it off later.” : : : : : : Lt Rhodes : : : CSO : : : : Lily’s face took on a shocked and confused expression as she thought about what Duncan had just told her. As if a light bulb had suddenly turned on, she met his gaze head-on. “Oh…oh god you mean you want me to get you all that and correctly without writing it down,” she tilted her head as if his request was the most complex thing she had ever heard. Looking at his expression she got half a grin. “You’re serious. You really want me to get you a ham sandwich, side of mac n cheese, house salad, and Ambrosia.” Shrugging she sighed deeply and began to turn around before spinning back to face him. “Did you want soup with that too? I think she has a couple of pots back there in the kitchen. I don’t know what kinds but I can bring you some if you want.” Duncan was turning out to be just as much fun as he was easy on the eyes. Lily let out a chuckle thinking about how Duncan thought she was actually a waitress. I mean technically that was the job she was hired for but this was a party and not a Saturday night with people actually wanting food. To Lily it was more of a sampling event but if Duncan wanted some ham slapped between two slices of bread, she would do it. : : : : NE Lily. : : As the party went on, Ensign T’Pen, dressed her best, would arrive at the entrance in order to get in. : : Ensign T’Pen, Dressed Her Best Duncans eyes widened a moment, “Ham sandwich? No no” His English accent now turned slightly into teacher mode as he smiled at her, perhaps she had just had a rough day or this was her first job or something. “Toasted sandwich with mac n cheese inside it” he explained, and lets just go with whatever coffee is up at the moment shall we? But, and this is important, ready? No soup. None. Ever, ok?” Duncan realized that although somehow she had wrangled an evening out of him already and was already trying to feed him half the food in the Café, most likely Evies influence, he didn’t even know the girls name. That could come later, he thought, for now she was still supposed to be a waitress and he could guess that if he began that conversation, she wasn’t about to get him his coffee. She was cute and kind of adorable, but he wanted his coffee. Lt Rhodes CSO

Duncan seemed nice. Not like half the other officers she had met here that were all about making rank. There was a calm, quiet quality about him. And his eyes were amazing. Rooting around the kitchen she grabbed an assembly of items: A sandwich, a cup of soup because he did not want a bowl of it, a pecan and strawberry vinaigrette salad. There was so much food, Lily wasn’t sure what he really did want without a menu. He also just rambled his order off before she had her stylus ready so it wasn’t exactly her fault if she got it wrong.
Lily the marvelous waitress.
Duncan sat back at the table he had claimed and watched the room and the people around it. A few he recognized from the crew but many were civilians and came and went as their own lives dictated. A small smile played about his lips as he just waited, and waited, and thought of the people he had come to know while on the Outpost and those he would still come to meet. He needed his coffee, and his thoughts turned to the chatty waitress and wondered what she was doing on the Outpost, she didn’t seem the regular type to be here after all.
From where he sat he noted the CO, Mathias and Evie and a handful of others, but still had no coffee. He adjusted in his seat slightly and relaxed, putting an arm along the top of the backrest and patiently waited. The pretty waitress might have got his order completely messed up if the sound of her menu keeping abilities was anything to go by, but all he really wanted was coffee. His eyes rested on the CO again and Duncan half thought he might wander over and chat to the man, he did have business with the mans mother to attend to anyhow at some point in the night.

CSO“Here we go,” Lily said arriving back at the table. “Tea…Early Grey hot with some butterscotch cakey looking things,” Lily said staring at the plate.
“Tea?” Duncan echoed, somehow not surprised but heavily disappointed. “And butterscotch cakey things?” He smiled, she had completely messed it up, but she was rather innocent in the way that she did it. Why she thought he liked Tea was beyond him, maybe it was the accent.
“It’s called a crumpet,” another waiter corrected her as he passed behind her with a tray of his own.
“Okay Tea…Early Grey hot with some butterscotch crumpets,” Lily corrected herself and set it on the table. “I have no idea why you would want tea at a coffee house or why Evie would even carry tea but you are British and I know you don’t do anything without your tea,” Lily commented taking a seat across from him. “You are lucky though. I was able to snag a fresh one right out of the oven which is why it is still warm and the icing a bit gooey. You can thank me later,” Lily said signaling one of the wait staff over and taking a cup of coffee for herself from the tray. Relaxing back for a second, Lily let out a long and contented sigh taking a long sip of her coffee.
Duncans eyes followed her movements, was she just teasing him now? He watched as the waiter with the tray walked off, then returned his attention to the obviously absent waitress. The coffee could wait a moment, surely, it wasn’t that important, really. Duncan felt his fingers begin to tap the table as he looked down at his cup of, Tea. Lily was probably the sort of person who thought Ambrosia was a Salad as well.
“Are you sure you want only tea and a little cake like thing. Evie is an amazing cook. I have your soup coming in just one second. They were making a new batch but I didn’t want to keep you waiting any longer,” Lily said looking around the room.
Lily, the waitress that does not need to write and order down.
“Soup? You shouldn’t have, in fact I think I have quite lost my Appetite” he said, pushing the Tea to one side. “How long have you been working here?” He asked her, this is your first waitressing job isn’t it..?” He paused slightly, inviting her to tell him her name.

CSO“Am I that bad,” Lily sunk back into the chair across from Duncan. “I mean can you tell this is my first waitressing gig?” After signaling the waiter over and placing an order she leaned forward on her elbows. “Okay so this is my first time being a waitress,” she said as if it were a huge secret. “I am not super fond of the running around but I do like hanging out with the people. That part of the job I do love. Before this I was looking for work. When I heard Evie was hiring I thought why not give it a whirl.”
“Oh I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it” Duncan said pleasantly, “It never hurts to just, ‘give it a whirl’ and see where it takes you. So hows that been going for you?” As the waiter arrived, Duncan spied the coffee and looked down at his tea that Lily had provided him, then back at the waiter. Most of the cafe people here knew Duncan and his love of coffee, but this new shop seemed to have hired a large bunch of new blood who were very obviously uninformed.
As the waiter came over and dropped off Lily’s coffee with a frown he spared a glance at Duncan. If the imposing science chief was not looking at him with such an intense stare, he might have said something. Instead, he left the coffee and walked away.
“Thank you,” Lily called to the waiter’s back before looking at Duncan. “Roger is nice but so intense. I mean he has done nothing but run around getting order and such. Evie told us to be social. Jessica Adams told us to be efficient. I decided to marry the two and I am actually having fun,” she smiled at Duncan. Taking a sip of her coffee, Lily picked up a fork and pointed at the crumpet. “Are you planning on eating that,” she asked with her fork poised? “It actually looks a lot more yummy than I thought.”
Lily the waitress
Duncan raised an eyebrow at the crumpet and tweaked a slight grin at her, then pushed the plate in her direction and placed his chin in the palm of his hand, elbow resting in on the table in an uncharacteristic, for him, pose. “Go ahead, enjoy it. You have to keep up your strength tonight, it looks like you’ve been run off your feet” he said to her, hinting at her earlier attempt at a foot massage, then his grin switched to a smirk. “Seeing as it seems just a wee bit difficult to learn your name” Duncan said to her, absently stirring the tea he had left untouched, “I guess I am going to have to give you a name. How about it? Maybe I’ll just call you Crumpet.”
