“I’m thinking that the wait will definitely be worth it.” Achilleas replied to Dira while subtly squeezing Ria’s hand. He was thinking in regards to both the new ship and his new relationship with Ria. At least the awkwardness of this outing had mellowed as there was good drink, great company, and an interesting topic to focus on. He took another sip of his wine and found that his glass was somehow empty. Huh, when did that happen? Sweeping his gaze over the both of them he asked, “Would you ladies like a refill of your drink while I get another for myself? Do we want any food to share at the table too?”

Ria returned the squeeze of the hand and smiled tenderly at Achilleas before saying, “I’m still good, but some food does sound good.” She was actually starting to feel rather hungry now that her nervousness seemed to have subsided somewhat; at least for now. Turning her head, she looked towards Dira to hear what the otehr woman was thinking.

With a warm smile, Dira shook her head. “I appreciate the offer, but I do need to get going.” She lifted her empty glass. “But it was nice to get to know you both better.”

Rising to her feet, the XO bowed her head to them. “Enjoy the rest of your evening. And I’m certain I will see you both soon,” she said.

“Seeing as how you’re in my chain of command I believe that’s inevitable.” Achilleas grinned as he responded. He waved to Dira, both reluctant to seem like a bad host and relieved to be alone, well sort of in a busy pub, with Ria for their date.

“Thank you Commander,” Ria replied softly and smiled a little shyly up at her.

Slipping away, Myqian couldn’t help but grin. It was good to socialize even despite the awkward invitation and the sense that she had been intruding. But she had also only gotten a genuine welcome from them both even if they both would have rather continued their very obvious date on their own. Ah well! She could handle awkward as well as anyone.

Achilleas looked back at Ria after the Commander’s departure. “What are you in the mood for? Do you want something of your own, something to share, something light?” He was probably giving too many options but he didn’t want to assume anything on their first real date. There was still so much to learn about each other.

Ria pondered for a moment and then said, “I think I’d just like to have a small salad. Maybe a Caesar’s one with a little chicken, if they have it. I am getting a little hungry, but I don’t want anything too heavy.” Looking suddenly a little uncertain, she added, “Unless you’d like to share something.”

Achilleas hastily waved a hand, “I was offering in case you wanted to. I’m okay with doing so but I’m going to get something more substantial than a salad. If I’m going to keep drinking wine I’ll need some food in me.” He smiled at Ria as he stood with wine glass still in hand. “I’ll be back as quick as I can.”

He made his way back towards the bar and through some crowd clustered around it. After a few minutes of waiting one of the staff helpfully accompanied him back to the table and laid everything out before leaving them to their dinner. His wine glass was refilled and there were a couple of glasses with ice and a pitcher of water. A chicken caesar salad was placed in front of Ria while Achilleas had some chicken fingers and fries while a bowl of mixed fruits sat between them. He smiled at Ria as he took each glass and filled them with water before putting them in their spots before taking a seat.
