It had been right on time and so had she. When she had received the message that a friend of hers from her MEP team days was going to be crossing her path again, she jumped at the chance to meet up. She and Vauma Jiled had kept in touch often over the years, providing an often necessary place to vent about the various difficulties of their work (without breaking confidentiality of course).

In her duty uniform, Myqian was down at the airlock where the Starfleet transport ship Hestra was currently docking. While not the only person down there, a quick glance told her she was one of the higher ranking officers of the group. She sifted back and forth on her feet as she waited.

Alexis was startled out of her reading of the latest medical journal by the jolt of the docking clamps. She stood up, a small shoulder bag, big enough for a couple PaDDs and her tricorder to fit, the only thing she carried. Her trunk would be transferred directly to Ogawa for her. She joined the line to get off the transport. It had been cramped, and luckily the trip from Hathaway, for her, had been short. Once through the airlock the ensign on duty stopped her.

“Lt. Bonner?” she nodded, “Ogawa is still undergoing refit. You will be housed here on the star base until it’s ready. Your things will be sent there and we’ll get it transferred automatically to Ogawa when it’s time.” He handed her a PaDD with her room and information about the base as well as information about where to find the command team for Ogawa. She nodded, “Thank you Ensign.”

Dira’s attention was pulled away from the influx of people at the mention of the Ogawa, but she couldn’t immediately see who the comment referred to.

Alexis stepped past the line to make room for the next person. There was a crowd waiting, and she was eager to get past it. She wanted to find her berth and then get to sickbay. Just as she was almost past the crowd she spotted Cmdr. Myqian. Alexis made a straight bee-line for her. “Cmdr. Myqian. Lt. Bonner, the new AMO for Ogawa. It’s a pleasure.” Alexis was thrilled that the XO was there. Now she could get to work faster. Her mind was already processing the new techniques she’d read in the journal and she was eager to try it with a holographic test run.

Dira smiled at the Bonner, though it took her a moment to place the woman, despite her announcing her position. But it was matching that name to the image she had seen a short while that helped her make the connection. “I would say welcome to the Ogawa, but well…” She gave an apologetic grin. “But our crew has been rotating in with the Starbase’s crew where needed and people are keeping mostly busy.”

Alexis nodded, “That is good to hear Cmdr. I can’t tolerate being idle. Do we have a med bay set aside just for the Ogawa crew or are we rotating along with everyone on the star base?” To Alexis it would make more sense to set up the crew in an auxiliary med bay since it was the WHOLE crew being added to an already busy and packed star base, but of course she wasn’t paid to make those kinds of decisions. “Do you know how long it will be before the refit is complete and we can get on board?” Hannah was eager to get going, explore her own small part of sickbay and meet the team she would be working with.

“Everyone is rotating in, but Dr. Walker has managed to set-up a sort of group rotation so our crew can work together still and new Ogawa crew looking for physicals can have that handle by our staff. I mean, it certainly helps that the ship’s complement was only forty people,” she said with a smile before leaning in. “Can you imagine a crew of three hundred?”

“But as a hospital ship, we can handle that many right? I mean what would be the point?”

Myqian was about to continue but a female Trill in a med blue uniform and the rank of Lt. Commander approached. Dira’s ebony eyes lit up and she held up her index finger. The other woman nodded. Dira turned her attention back to Alexis. “Uhhh… about that refit… the situation has been changing fast and we’ve just found out that we’re actually going to be getting a new ship. Can’t give more details than that yet, but I can tell you that the ship is a lot bigger and it’s going to be a pretty amazing medical facility to work at.” Was she excited herself? You bet!

Alexis eyes light up. Oh this will be exciting. New facility and maybe they can actually use some of the new procedures, techniques, and tools that had been created in the last couple of years. “Well, Cmdr if you’ll point me in the right directions I will go report to Dr. Walker.”
