The NE had finally caught his breath as he stretched up right. “Well ma’am, you know as much as I do. There is a Walrus near one of the airlocks, the gym is in shambles, the queen is holding court and seems intent on starting to collect some heads.” He looked to the CE then and nodded, “She is normally quite level headed but yeah, that dress makes her look like something else doesn’t it?”
“It’s not just the dress, although it’s quite lovely,” Bob observed.
“Lovely, but not the norm, no,” Myqian quipped.
He glanced back to the XO, “I don’t know what the rhyme or reason is. I’d suggest we talk to science but, you know. Tea party.”
GM Wombat
At that moment, over the general address system the cheery computer voice announced =/\= Attention Code Orange. Repeat, Code Orange. All emergency personnel are required to respond to their duty stations for briefing.=/\=
The NE sighed and turned to the XO, “Well someone just announced a hazardous materials escape so maybe that is it?”
GM Wombat
“Oh for…” Dira muttered under her breath as she looked at Bob with an exasperated expression.Cai stood back and watched a little bemused looking. When he alert sounded he looked up and swore. “Well that’s not good.”
Cai
“At least we know we’re not the only sane people,” Bob offered as a positive note.
The reports kept piling up for the XO: =/\=NE Obvious to Security and XO… We have an incident in the science lab. Seems the reported spill is in here. They must have spilled the good stuff cause, well, I think the chief is going to regret this in the morning.=/\=
GM Wombat
“Okay, while I would love to just walk into the science labs, I think for the moment that maybe the Infirmary is the better place. They at least have biofilters and containment in there.” Dira looked at Bob again. “Do you know if the crew’s commbadges are tied together separately from the Starbase’s crew?” She figured if she could at least put out a call to everyone that maybe the unaffected would be more likely to respond.
Commander Myqian, XO
“They certainly can be,” Bob answered. “I mean, you should be able to send a message only to our crew. I’ve been doing it a lot recently to avoid problems with the yard… people. If you’re specific with your addressing the commbadges will avoid routing through the base systems.”
Dira nodded.
Cai listened looking confused. ”You think something turned her into a fruit loop?” he asked and looked around the station, high above him and then at the walls. ”Itd need to be something organ is to the station itself…if it was brought in then the bio hazard containment protocols would kick in before it got so widespread surely…” he said more to himself than anyone else around him.
Cai
“Yeah, it must be something already here. I don’t know why none of us are affected, but we shouldn’t assume we’re immune to it,” Bob observed.
– Robert Mason, CE
“Which means we need to find a safe place to congregate that we can secure,” Dira said, at least finally able to come to some sort of decision.
The XO tapped her commbadge and hoped for the best. =/\=Commander Myqian to all USS Ogawa crewmembers. Report your status to me ASAP.=/\= She left it open that way intentionally. Anyone who was in their right mind at the moment should be able to respond properly. If someone affected replied, it would be obvious and they could react or ignore them as needed based on the situation. Once she had a few people she could rally together, they could find somewhere safe to congregate. She wanted to go to the Infirmary, but there was no guarantee yet that someone there was alright.
Commander Myqian, XO
Not having had her comm badge activated yet, Jenyfer tapped the console. =^=This is Lieutenant JG Jenyfer Lynset, Sir. Pleasure to meet you. I’m the new Virologist. I believe we had an appointment for this evening,=^= she laughed softly, hoping to ease the tension a bit. =^= I’m in main medical with Dr Grayson who found the Chief of Staff and a couple others inflicted. I’m not sure who all I have down here, to be honest. But we’ve been told by the AMO that its a hallucinogen that is affecting folks. We are thinking touch contact spread and not airborne, since more of us aren’t afflicted.=^= She knew it was more than a sounding off, but he had to know what was going on and that was her reason for the short ramble.
Jenyfer
Virologist=/\= Cascarrabias here. I’m with a Lieutenant (junior grade) calling himself the Walrus, whatever his real name is, and he thinks I’m a guy called the Carpenter. We’re headed to the merchant area to get some cooking supplies. I’d rather not say what he’s intending to cook, though. =/\=
GM Wombat (For Cascarrabias)
Ooookayyyy then. Wow this was really getting out of hand, wasn’t it? But the engineer, though cryptic, was definitely seemed sound of mind. =/\=We are currently in that very same location you’re headed. Please feel free to join us.=/\=
=/\= Understood, Commander. See you there. =/\= the Grouch/”Carpenter” replied, hoping that somebody would be able to fix this problem.
=^=Cmdr Myqian, this is Lt Bonner. I’m the new AMO. I just left Captian Taylor on the promenade. She’s been inflected with lysergic acid diethylamide or psilocybin poisoning. Initial scans of her and those around her show a fungal infection. If you are able could you meet me at the the main medical bay?=^=
Lt. Bonner, AMO
Finally, some real information! This helped a great deal at least frame what they were dealing with, but wow, okay, not what she was expecting. If was fortunate that the XO had a medical background and she didn’t have to have anyone interpret that for her. =/\=Right, that explains a lot. Let’s convene there. Anyone you find who hasn’t been affected, direct them there. We’re going regroup.=/\=
Tija Aizala, though officially on med leave, had been on her way to the infirmary when Myqian’s voice came through the com. Tapping her combadge she said, =/\= This is Lieutenant Tija. I’m on my way to the infirmary now. =/\= As always her voice was curt and assertive. She wasn’t sure what was going on, but was adamant not only to try and find out, but also to help. She was a doctor after all and even with nothing going on she’d always found it difficult not to work. And clearly this situation required all the help they could get.
~Lt. Tija Aizala, Doctor (med leave)
Dira nodded, even though Aizala couldn’t see her. =/\=As are we, Lieutenant. Avoid physical contact with anyone and we’ll meet you there shortly.=/\=
Zoi had been waiting for an opportune moment to cause some mischief. =/\= Why Dira, it almost sounds like you care. I was going to go to the Bridge, but hearing your voice makes me think a night cap with you might be a better option. Poor Duvosa is covered in wounds.=/\= She nearly giggled at her exaggeration of Duvosa’s scratches from the rose thorns but didn’t. Instead she let out an exaggerated sigh that could be heard over the Comms. =/\= Im sure she will be fine though. Sooo.. what do you say? Night cap in my quarters? =/\=
Haven, CoS
The heat on Dira’s cheeks was furious for a brief moment until she reigned in her emotions. She was normally such a private person that the open and very public invitation had caught her off guard. She knew Zoi enough to know that she would never openly try to embarrass her, so she could only assume their Chief of Security was affected too. And that wherever she was, something had happened with Duvosa. She needed to make sure they were safe. She swallowed her embarrassment and didn’t dare look at Bob and the others. =/\=That does sound lovely, and I might be able to, but you know how this new job is. How about this? You go relax and I will do my absolute best to meet you there, alright?=/\= she said with a calm and friendly tone. Dira might be taking precautions if she did go, but she also might have to stand Zoi up, though she was pretty sure the woman would forgive her for it later under the circumstances.
Commander Myqian, XO
Thankfully, right about then, Oscar and The Walrus got to the Merchant Area. The Walrus was going on about foodstuffs - the exotic nature of clam chowder, and how certain condiments were better than others for oysters on the half shell - while CPO Cascarrabias was following along, a long-suffering expression on his face. Of course, this was behind the clear face plate of his isolation suit, and Oscar himself was green, so one had to be looking directly at Oscar to actually catch this. Truth be told, even though he wasn’t mad in the same way as the Walrus, the Walrus was going to drive the Grouch mad with his discussion of how incredible the addition of bay leaf was to seafood. When Oscar saw the group and somebody with a Commander’s rank affixed, Cascarrabias decided to try his best to communicate his continued sanity.
“Commander Myqian, thank you for the invitation, I’m. This seems like a rather pleasant party you’ve convened, of. We’ve just left one of our own, sound. I’m sure the Walrus here is intent on getting back, mind.”
Oscar Cascarrabias
Engineering
Right, fantastic. Well, at least they knew approximately how this… affliction was passed along so she was going to keep her distance. “It’s great that you could join us, Chief. We’re about to head out elsewhere and you should come with me, so perhaps the… Walrus would like to host a party in their quarters? Perhaps others will join?” she suggested lightly, as it if were the best suggestion yet! If they could just make it to the Infirmary without coming into contact with anyone, they might end up okay.
