She laughed. “I was serious when I said it would be better coming from me. I stand by that,” Dira said with a grin.

“We’ll have to make some contingencies for the various levels of staffing the ship will have. I don’t like the idea of just waiting to see what they give us and then scrambling to sort it all out,” the XO mused. She was more than able to just ‘go with the flow’ but this seemed like an instance where some preparation would be better for all in the long run.

Willow nodded. ”Ill contact command and see what potential people we have coming at us and who has put in for a transfer from us and from the rest of the fleet and wider fleets. See if we can get a potential list to go through and maybe out in some requests.”

She nodded. ”Then you have my permission to go tell him.” she grinned.

Dira gave Willow a cheeky sort of salute and downed the last of her drink.

Rising to her feet with an exhale that was more about her mind working on multiple tangents than anything else, Myqian recycled her mug and turned to face Taylor, her dark eyes thoughtful. “You know, the day after we were on our way here, I just kept thinking that I was glad to put some space between that old situation and where I wanted to go. But a new ship like the one they’re proposing? That’ll make hanging out here at base all the more worthwhile.”

Willow grinned. ”I hope it does. God knows I would love somewhere to put people other than that cupboard on deck 8…” she joked. ”And I don’t like the colours in the lounge either…maybe this is the ticket for us all to something new. A new era.” she waved a hand. ”Go tell him before he starts requisitioning supplies.”

Dira chuckled and grinned. “Yes, Ma’am,” she said casually, feeling yet again that this was a good place for her and that Taylor and herself were going to work out quite nicely.

“I’ll let you know how it goes,” Myqian quipped as she headed out the door.
