Having left the security office and headed to the lounge Willow spotted a table empty nearby and pointing to it turned her head to look at Zoi and said. ”I’ll grab some drinks shall I? What would you like?”

She wandered off then to secure the drinks and was back in a few moments.

Zoi followed the Captain to the Lounge, amused that their business meeting had transitioned to a more social one. She noted the table Willow pointed to and then turned to look at the Captain, considering her drink options. “Let’s go with chai spiced latte and a fruit and cheese plate please? I eat regularly throughout the day and its about snack time.”

”Great idea, I’ll join you.” Willow said and went to order the drink and food.

She turned then and made her way to the table, taking a seat near the window and easy to see the rest of the room. It was an automatic maneuver, ingrained like so many security precautions. She seemed relaxed though.

She returned with the drinks, a peach ice tea with a lot of ice and a slice of lemon for her and a chai spiced latte for Zoi. ”Food in five minutes apparently.” she said as she sat and took a drink of her tea. And seemed to cheer up immensely after just one mouth full. Not that she looked sad before but definatelymbrighter afterwards.

”Do you know, I spend so much of my life wandering this ship these last couple years that I only get to sit here a handful of times. And every time I do I think…we need new seat covers. Something a different colour than grey.” she smiled

Zoi , amused by this observation, laughed softly. Taking a sip of her own drink, she too felt the enjoyment and brightened. Something about the heat and how it warmed her all the way to her bones perhaps, but she always loved a fresh cuppa. “Perhaps muted tones of red, blue and yellow? Or should we go with something completely alternate to our company line. Something along the fushia family perhaps, or better yet, a deep royal purple. Everyone loves a good purple don’t you think?”

Willow chuckled. ”yes! Purple and a nice navy carpet.” she said and sipped tea again. ”of your dept broke up a bar fight and we is had to replace the chairs you know if very much be grateful.” she joked and moved aside slightly as their food arrived.

She had to laugh at this not so subtle suggestion. Bar fights happened, but they were rare in the psuedo military environment of a Star Fleet ship. They were more likely to happen on a starbase than a ship. Zoi supposed that was because you had to live and work with the people on your ship all the time and could not escape after getting into it with a coworker on a ship. You had to live with your decision. Not that conflict didn’t happen, but it happened less on a ship especially one this small.

”starfleet colour schemes. Very boring.”

“Agreed. I would rather not be living on a ship entirely schemed for Star Fleet. I want to feel like I am not working when I am not working. Having the Star Fleet colors all around me all the time could be demoralizing for the crew.”

With a slight laugh Willow nodded. “I say we take a bucket of paint to the walls and hope that security chief and captain protects us both when the psychiatrists arrive.” She said and are a moment surveying the crew.

Zoi grinned and nodded. “Indeed I hope they will.” Then mirrored the Captain in her observation of the crew present in the Lounge. Like usual during the “day shift” times, it was at least half full. People milled around at the replicators. Some sat at the bar. Others sat in seats at tables chatting with others. None were alone.

“Did you ever love a ship but wonder if you’re hearts in the right place but your he heads somewhere else?“

“Every assignment I have had since I first had to leave my mother in the care of others. Yes.” She said frankly. Most people couldn’t say that much about their lives. IF they came to Star Fleet, they were likely to stay career long. Zoi had been in and out of service many times in her 70 years with Star Fleet. She was in a unique place of understanding the idea of her heart being in one place and her head in another.

Willow regarded Zoi a moment and then sipped her drink. ”It kinda sucks.” was all she said, not wanting to pry but also somehow to convey a sense of understanding.
