“It’s incredibly unlikely that they made a mistake. I can’t say that it’s impossible statistically, but I believe that they made no mistake with you. Now you listen to me closely Ria… you were meant to be a Starfleet officer and all of your hard work got you here. If you feel like you’re not meant to be here then do your best work to prove it to yourself that you really are. You’ve already proved it to me.” Achilleas gently kissed the top of Ria’s head, “You didn’t bring down the mood at all. I’m honored that you have told me these thoughts. Please don’t ever feel like you need to hold back because it might upset me. I may disagree with your reasoning because I see you in a way that you can’t see for yourself, but your feelings will always matter to me.”

Ria sort of nodded and closed her eyes for a moment. She wanted Achilleas to be right. If only she could make herself feel and think the same way… After several moments of silence she opened her eyes again and lifted her head enough to give him a brief kiss on the cheek. “Thank you,” she whispered and since she didn’t really want to talk more about this she continued, “You mentioned another story you wanted to tell me?”

Achilleas’ response was unexpectedly not coming. Ria would like feel more weight being pressed against her and a look upwards would show that his eyes were closed and he was softly breathing. Despite all of the excitement, or maybe because of it, along with the peacefulness and warmth, he had fallen asleep! It wasn’t even a gradual process with a heaviness in the eyes, but he finally relaxed and sleep took him.

Ria blinked several times and felt utterly confused; and maybe even a little jealous. How could anyone just fall asleep like that? Oh well, it had been an exhausting day for both of them. Moving as carefully as possible, she tried to slip out of his embrace and off the couch. While doing so she, she looked around the room for something to write a message on, like a piece of paper and pen. She felt uncomfortable staying here while he was asleep, yet at the same time also didn’t want to leave without leaving a note behind. That would just be rude.
