That was not what she was expecting! She figured drawing, painting, or clay sculpting… the usual things people thought of. But Zoi’s suggestion was surprising in the most wonderful way. “Not that is a great idea. Almost no rules at all. Just a few basic techniques and you’re good.” Her eyes lit up at the idea ad she was already working through how they might go about implementing the suggestion. “Definitely going to need the holodeck, unless we think we can somehow get to Gamma Tiltium IV some time soon. But the holodeck is more available,” she said with a light laugh that was almost lyrical.

She was pleased with how much her suggestion had surprised Dira. The look on her face was lovely to see and Zoi felt a bit of pride in surprising her with her choice of art style. She had no idea how to sculpt sand, but figured Dira could help with that. Or maybe she could get some practice in beforehand.
Vacation, now that was a dreamy thought. Zoi had not had one of those in a long time. Her mind drifted to the idea of Gamma Tiltium IV and its sandy beaches and tropical climate. “Now that is a thought.” Sighing softly she shook her head. “The holodeck will do nicely I am sure. Afterall, we have the run of the Galaxy and could in fact, choose where ever we would like to go that would be suited to the activity. Also, we wouldn’t need to deal with tourists in any other way than cheering someone on. Win win?”

She laughed again. “Sounds great to me,” Dira said, lowering her arm and resting her hand back in her lap. “Just name the day and time and…” She was about to say she’d be there, but then she realized her new job came with a lot more work and rather variable work hours. “I’ll check my schedule,” she said with a smirk.
Zoi let out a laugh and nodded. “Will do.” Her natural inclination was to say Commander at the end, but she held herself back. They had transitioned from work to social and for the first time in a long time, Zoi felt relaxed and open in the presence of a person who was not her mother or her mother’s doctors. Sure, she had been able to be comfortable and somewhat relaxed with the ship’s chief psychiatrist before he bailed, but she had not been completely at ease. Now even though she was in a room about half full of people talking among themselves and listening to the pleasant music, her guard was not up and she was relaxed.
Dira had to admit that she was really enjoying herself this evening, and she wasn’t sure she wanted it to be over just yet. Had she had such a truly pleasant time where she had felt so at ease? Not in a long time, she thought, careful not to let her mind slip down the path of memory where it it would inevitably affect the lovely mood of the dinner she was experiencing. “So… desert? What are our options? And do say there is something chocolate on offer,” Myqian added with a grin.
Commander Myqian, XO
“Ooooo,” Zoi replied with delight. “Yes. You do speak my language. Let’s see, Hazelnut Dacquoise is my favorite dessert. It does have some chocolate ganache, but isn’t primarily that taste. They also have a Raspberry chocolate cake with an alternating white and dark chocolate exterior and a chocolate cup of fresh raspberries. They have a white chocolate cherry boozy trifle too. A bit heavy on the booze but delicious.”

“Ahhh, choices,” Dira said with a laugh. “I’d normally go for the boozy one, but not a fan of cherries. However, raspberries remind me of uttaberries, which I love. And the more chocolate the better, so chocolate cake for me,” she said with a dramatic shift of her eyebrows.
“What are you going for?”
