USS Ogawa
Kyren's Quarters
“Good. Good,” she said, stretching her arms to the side and twisting her back, feeling the temperature already starting to cool slightly. “Wish I could go colder, but I don’t want to have to deal with temperature shock when I go out,” she said to herself. She bent backwards, stretching further, then lay back in her bed with a thump.
“Hey, Computer, wake me before my morning appointments or if any alerts come out to engineering.”
The alarm went off what felt like only a few seconds later, although it had to have been enough time for Kyren to actually fall asleep first, as she groggily sat up.
“There is an alert to engineering,” the computer informed her.
“Ugh, you have to be kidding me! What’s the report?”
“The lateral sensor maintenance log has not been reviewed in 14 days, 3 minutes. Regulations require the log to be reviewed every 14 days.”
Kyren groaned. “Stupid literal hunk of isolinear trash!” She lay back for a few minutes, before the realization was clear that she simply was not going to fall back asleep again. She stroked a finger lightly against one of her antenna, to ward off the impending headache. “Fine, fine. Computer, what time is my duty shift?”
“You are not currently cleared for duty. You must complete your medical check-in, and where required, psychological evaluation before duty shifts are officially assigned.”
She continued to rub her antenna slowly. “It’s a ship literally stuffed to the decks with doctors. It can wait.” She stretched her arms a bit, and then got out of bed. “May as well do a morning workout first.”
