Dira laughed widely. “I think you’ll find therapists just as focused. It’s just the people change with a regular frequency during our days. But I know I had many days where an issue consumed much of my day and I forgot to eat or something,” she said with a grin. “Happens to a lot of people I’ve noticed. But in any case, I’m working with everyone to find out what’s happening with the ship. We should hopefully have an update soon.”

“But about you specifically? What’s your area of expertise?” the XO asked.

Commander Myqian, XO

“Astrophysics, more specifically dark energy. My research project is to determine the interaction of dark energy in the process of stars going prematurely nova.” Achilleas eyes began to shine as he dove into his passion project, “You see, as we can only infer the existence of things such as dark matter or dark energy from the clues presented by the lack of certain explanatory interactions in the universe, my theory is that absent things we can explain for premature novae, such as chroniton phenomena, polaron shifts, etc, then dark energy is a likely culprit.”

CSO Petrakos

She grinned at him. “I’m glad to see you passionate about something. Everyone should have something like that. I can say with full honesty that I look forward to seeing the efforts of your research,” Dira said.

Achilleas chuckled wryly, “I get caught up in the fascination of the mysteries in space too easily at times. I’m looking forward to figuring out that puzzle too.”

“I know your department has been in flux, but what can you tell me about them so far?” Myqian asked.

Commander Myqian, XO

“Not much yet.” Achilleas grimaced slightly as he replied, “My two ensigns are similar but also very different. They both don’t talk much but one is from a lack of confidence while the other seems to stem from indifference. Their work ethic is impeccable however, as I can set them to a task and it gets done. The weekly reports end up being brief as a result though.”

CSO Petrakos

“Hey! I’m not going to complain about concise reports. Makes for easier reading for me…” Dira said with a light laugh. Certainly she had enough reports to go through at the moment that anything that reduced her reading load was welcome.

“Anything else you need from me? Or the Captain?” Myqian asked.

“I can’t think of anything Commander. If I do I’ll let you know though.” Achilleas replied with a small grin. “It would be nice to have a staff dinner when we get our ship back though.”

CSO Petrakos

Leaning back in her chair, Myqian’s dark eyes lit up. “Now that is a great idea. We’ll definitely have to plan something casual.” Anytime she could watch the crew interact in larger groups would exceedingly beneficial for her in the long run.

“Well, I guess that’s all then. You know how to find me,” Dira said.
