Why must these things always start out small? Because if things started out big then people would notice them and they would be fixed before they became an issue. Unfortunately when things start out small they are often ignored until it is too late. So it was on Starbase 157.

It started out small. The smell of cake and tea here, the sound of a child’s laugh there but ultimately, eventually, everyone sensed it. Something was wrong in the Starbase. Something was really wrong, and soon there would be no doubt to how bad it was.

Strolling along the corridors NE Maddington stumbled slightly and tripped looking dazed. He closed his eyes tightly then opened them again before shaking out his head, eyes wide as he tried to regain focus, eventually he just slumped and leaned against the wall.
