Willow looked apologetic. “Sorry about that, we were attacked by soap opera villains and had a bit of a rough ride getting back.” She entered the temporary office and turned in the lights. It was rather barren the only thing from her office on the ogawa being the fish tank purely because she was afraid they wouldn’t be fed.
“So I heard,” Dira said with some amusement. It was one of those ‘stranger than fiction’ tales that only officers who lead more interesting careers tended to accept without even blinking. That included her. Still, it had been quite the read and the therapist in her expected that there might be a few repercussions to keep a eye out for. “I’m not complaining though. Every assignment has its challenges. This one is just presenting me with the up front.” She shrugged.
“Please sit.” She said and did so herself. “So I should probably tell you that the position is cursed.” She said and smiled.

COTaking up a seat with crossed legs, the new XO gave Taylor a smile, considering that the captain was utterly serious. She really did think that. “And what do you think that means for me, then? Dira said.
Commander Myqian, XO
Willow laughed, “we should get you some sort of protective force field.” She said only half way joking. She raised her eyebrows. “Sorry, it’s been a bit of a mad few months.” She said and then sipped her wine. “So, tell me a little about yourself, if we are going to be working together as a command team we may as well take this opportunity to get to know one another.”

CODira nodded. “Absolutely.” She sipped on her drink and thought back to all the random details she cold say. Some things were obvious, but others not so much. But this was just an initial meeting and it wouldn’t do to overshare.
“Well, let’s see, depending on how you count it, I’ve been a psychiatrist for twenty years. Born and raised on Vega Colony. Betazoid mother, Haliian father, hence the telepathy,” she said with a grin.
“I stared my psychiatric residency at the tail end of the Dominion War, so my patients were predominately combat veterans dealing with post-traumatic issues, or their families who needed help understanding and coping with the fact that their loved ones returned different people. I did my Command training over the last year and half and this is my first assignment in this realm.” She wasn’t embarrassed about this fact. Everyone had to start somewhere. But how Taylor reacted was an unknown variable at the moment and from what she had read, she almost expected that the crew would have wanted to send someone more… experienced. But Dira knew what she could bring to the table and she knew deep down that the Ogawa needed her as much as she needed this change.

Willow listened intently. She nodded a few places where it was appropriate to do so in a conversation and raised her eyebrows. ”A medical ship is not always easy to command, it’s like being an administrator for a hospital AND a starlet command officer at the same time.” she laughed again ” I had a feeling this might be a little bit of a birth by fire for you but if you’re experienced in psychiatry then I’m sure we will balance out alright.”
“That was my thought,” Dira said with a light laugh. “And it made sense that they switched up plans and sent me here. I mean… obviously, right? You don’t need to have a health background to run a medical ship but it certainly make it easier.”
She sipped again. ”My background is medical, I was a cardio thoracic surgeon, specialising in paediatrics.” she said.

COHer ebony eyes assessed Tyalor. “Do you miss it?” she asked simply.
Commander Myqian, XO
Willow looked at her. “Believe it or not I miss the simplicity of surgery yes.” She said honestly. “However, I love my job and I wouldn’t give it up.” She said and couldn’t quite quell the thought of again that crossed her mind followed by an image in her minds eye of her brother. She pushed the thought away.
“So, you were watching the ceremony. Did you get a good look at the crew.” She said with a smile.
