After the awards had been presented and the meal that she had organised been served and eaten and most people were discussing amongst themselves now Willow wandered to the bar and ordered a very large glass of wine. She sipped at it greatfully and closing her eyes sighed as she slid into the stool away from the majority of the crew. Just a few minutes of quiet and wine that’s all she needed.

There was a weariness that Dira could sense in Taylor that spoke volumes. So for a few moments, she gave her space.

Her thoughts drifted to the fate of Commande Brookes and she sighed again. The woman she had seen could only be the XO sent to replace her. Willow pondered if she should warn the new woman that the position was likely cursed.

Making a wide circle around the room towards the bar. As she approached, she slid her arms onto the top, folding them as she leaned upright next to Willow. “Gin and tonic with Martran gin,” she ordered with a smile. Turning her head, her dark eyes took in the CO and she gave a sympathetic look. “I’d bet a decent amount of latinum that that isn’t going to be your only glass tonight.”

Willow smiled slightly, her green eyes trained on the dry white win in the glass as she turned it in her finger tips. “I think that it had best be.” She said with a small sigh and setting the glass, still mostly full, down turned to look at Dira properly. “So, I take it you are to be Commander Brookes’ replacement?” She asked and held her hand out. “Willow Taylor.” She added by way of introduction.

Dira reached out and took Taylor’s hand, but rather than shake, she gave it a gentle squeeze while gazing intently at the CO for a moment before releasing. “Dira Myqian,” she said. “And yes, I’ve been assigned as your new Executive Officer. And lucky for you I bring your new Chief Engineer with me. Captain Siterra teased me about poaching, but it’s probably the most friendly case of it you’re going to see. Lieutenant Mason knows his stuff.”

Her drink arrived, slid to her with a smile. “Thank you,” she said, matching the smile. She took a sip and shivered slightly in delight. It never ailed to hit the right note. “My thought is that we should take this conversation elsewhere, where we can be more open. When you’re ready of course.” She gestured with her head over her shoulder. “But they don’t need you to be on now.” She tapped her head. “Full disclosure; I’m telepathic.”
