I don’t recall where your quarters are from here.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Haven, Sec : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Grinning and opening his mouth to speak Rico was about to motion to the Turbo-lift visible down the hall when..... : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : An obviously bald man in Sciences blue walked past both of them in the hall as they were talking. Vanhall would certainly recognize him as Arthur Nelson, having already seen him on the Bridge. It was completely unclear if the Chief Science Officer had even registered the presence of the two of them in the corridor, as he just kept moving toward his objective, which seemed to be the very same turbolift that Haven had been trying to reach. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Rico finished his motion towards the turbo-lift, which now included the Chief Science Officer as well and he looked back to Haven and raised his eyebrow, just one, high and arched which made the expression stand out in Rico’s very short trimmed head. “Thataway, next deck up in fact” he told her, “Our CSO looks like he has our turbo-lift in mind. Did you know, a fun game among the lower ranks is ‘Try to engage the CSO in conversation and see if you can get him to smile”. Biting his lip, Rico gave her a wink to go with his grin. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Of course, it was entirely possible that he would get there first, and be gone completely before the pair of them would arrive. They might even do that deliberately if they wanted the notoriously stiff and difficult man. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : — Arthur Nelson, CSO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : She watched Nelson move bast them towards the Turbo lift and somehow without thinking about it, she automatically started stepping to follow. “Really?” She replied to Vanhall. “That seems like an irritating game if he isn’t in on it.” Thus far Zoi had not met the man but she had heard the scuttlebutt about him being rather unsociable. Everyone had their reasons for how they were, but she had to wonder how difficult it must be to be so stiff. It wasn’t a huge ship. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “If we move, we might reach him in time to see what he’s up to, he’s most certainly got a destination in mind” he said to Haven, “We’re going that way anyway, shall we catch up and catch a ride?” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt Rico Vanhall : : : : : : : : : : : : CoS : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : She walked into the Turbolift, barefeet and dressed to kill in sparkling gold. “Hello Lieutenant Nelson. I am Lieutenant Zoi Haven in Security and new on the ship. I am sure you could not possibly mind us tagging along for one deck.” She smiled with a genuinely nice countenance though if he was very astute, he would notice she was a little tipsy. She turned with an exaggerated slowness to face back out of the Turbolift, untrusting in herself not to fall if she went at regular speed. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Haven, Sec : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Arthur looked at her, but didn’t actually say anything immediately. He simply placed his hand flat over the door slot, holding the lift for her and Vanhall. His eyes clearly moved up and down at least once, to take note of her unusual dress, lack of shoes, and apparent inability to maintain balance. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Are you alright, Lieutenant?” he asked her as she was turning. He then looked at Vanhall as if to ask what exactly was happening here. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : – Arthur Nelson, CSO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Rico stepped into the turbo lift and turned to position himself to the side, casually leaning on the wall with a grin on his mug and lightly folding his arms. While he thought Zoi was perfectly fine, all things considering, he still wanted to be ready to offer any stabilizing support that might suddenly be needed, and didn’t want to look like he was expecting to. “Lieutenant Haven attended this evenings party a few of the medical staff threw” he said by way of explanation, but leaving Zoi herself to explain if she was ‘alright’ or not. “We are just heading back to” he looked at Haven a moment, “My quarters was it? To investigate just how good a Scotch Whiskey 16 year old Lagavulin actually is.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt Vanhall, CoS : : : : : : : : : : Arthur’s seemed to accept the answer without any sort of his typical condescending disapproval whatsoever, though Zoi began speaking before he could say anything. : : : : : : : : : : : : : Her heeled shoes, no longer on her feet, were safely ensconced in her hands. They were strappy and high and the way she held them showed that she was at least sober enough that she wasn’t dropping everything and falling on her face. Not sober enough to be able to move swiftly however. She turned in her gold sparking one shouldered dress, wild hair now out of its messy updo and smiled a bit self deprecatingly. “Well, there was a lot of drinking and a lot of dancing.” The Security officer shrugged but that made for an interesting and not terribly pleasant swish in her equilibrium. She leaned on the wall behind her as though it was the most natural thing in the world… at least in her mind. To the others, it probably looked like she slowly fell against the wall. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “I was bored out of my mind to be honest. I went to make friends and I find that it is impossible to do so dancing around like a lunatic and watching them make out with each other like teenagers. I am sure they are still indulging themselves immensely, but I need to sit in a much quieter place and find some other way to make friends. The offer of a good Scotch Whiskey is too interesting to pass up.” She didn’t think to explain why she was going to a man’s room in the middle of the night. She simply was. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Haven, Sec : : : : : : : : : : “Yes, that sounds a lot more sensible. Especially if you prefer the taste of peat.” : : : : : : : : : : Arthur was still stiff, but he did not seem to scowl. Outside of working on the Bridge, this may have been the most neutral expression that Vanhall would have ever noticed him making. Zoi, having never met him, would possibly have no idea what to make of it, though an observant person may note that it was kind of odd that he knew that she was a Lieutenant despite being out of uniform. : : : : : : : : : : – Arthur Nelson, CSO : : : : : : : : Zoi did notice but chalked it up to scuttlebutt of the new security officer on board. It wasn’t a large ship, with a max crew compliment of 45. Everyone would know about anyone new within moments of their arrival, if not before their arrival. She smiled at Arthur pleasantly. “Mmmm. I don’t mind it, but its better than watching a literal version of sucking face and dry humping in disco lights.” “Absolutely” Rico said, grinning, “Although both are much better to partake in than watch others do it. In the right setting of course.” : : : : : : : : “Would you like to join?” In her loosely relaxed state, she was inviting a stranger to another stranger’s quarters for a drink and didn’t seem terribly to mind. Reez would be proud of her courage, if maybe not the way she chose to implement it at the expense of Vanhall’s privacy. : : : : : : : : Haven, Sec : : :

IC: “You are both welcome of course” Rico said as the turbo-lift stopped and the doors opened. “Conversation, a few drinks and the chance to make a few friends without the annoying sound of temporary one night adventurers from the next chair over, my quarters are yours.” Then he looked at Zoi and grinned, “And the replicator might be kind and produce something a little more comfortable to relax in if you like.”

Ooc: oop I see Joe’s no longer on board, we can continue ourselves if you like
-Dave
OOC: awww dang. Np. Let us march on!

IC: She watched as the Chief Science Officer waved off and left as the Turbolift opened. Oh well. She shrugged and left the Turbolift as well. She knew where the COS’s quarters were because she knew the layout of the ship like any good officer. Mind you, in her inebriated state, she might not be the most accurate, or the most focused on finding it. “Oh yes. That does sound far more pleasant. This dress is really tight. Pretty as it is, you have deducted… dedoo…” Zoi stopped and thought about the word she wanted to find. It appeared she found it easily enough because her face lit up and she continued walking forward. “Deduced correctly.”

Haven, Sec

Rico laughed lightly and joined her in the corridor. “Are you sure your up for another drink? We could always start with water” he teased her slightly and held out his hand, indicating the direction of his quarters as they started to walk. “I’m not sure if you’ve met my girlfriend, Doctor Scott. She was there when I left for my shift and she’s likely still there, I’m sure she would love to meet you as well and have a drink, she’s the friendly sort.” His quarters weren’t far away and Ally normally was waiting for him when she finished her shift, unless she wanted a night to herself or was entertaining one of her friends while he was at work and had returned to her quarters.
