M’Nalie saw the dubious look in the crewmans eyes, since it was the usual Starfleet reaction to being told that using a effective weapon was better than using a toy.
“You must be very new crewman. Nobody who has served any time on a ship treats Ensigns like officers. Officers in training perhaps. In any case . Dismissed. Perhaps a demonstration of what I was talking about would be more convincing to you. I realise Star Fleet does not really enjoy hurting people, and thats noble and honorable in a way. It’s also foolish to not take every advantage in battle. People will be trying to kill you in battle. But you will need choose for yourself.”, and she turned and headed to the turbolift.Ensign M’Nalie Eshenti. Engineer.
“Ma’am....” he said to no one in particular, he watched her wander off…it stuck in his head that she acted more like a barely contained for of nature than an officer. With a smirk he turned around and started heading Aft, he picked up the pace as he ran towards the the most stern ward Jeffries tube. With a grunt he opened the hatch, swinging himself inside and crawling towards the ladder.
After a few minutes of climbing and crawling he was stepping out onto Deck 4, it’s quiet corridors echoed as he slammed the hatch shut. During this time of the day it was rarely used as the conference rooms weren’t being used and while the ship was moving its shuttle bay was not used.
Gordon quickly began a loping jog down the corridors, pushing his way along the port side of the ship towards the Bow…

As he continued down the empty corridors outside the empty conference rooms Gordon began to use the consistent distances between doors to do a bit of fartlek training, sprinting between one set then jogging and finally walking between the third set before repeating the cycle. As the ship was nearly 366 metres from stem to stern Gordon was absolutely knackered by the time he reached the large double doors to the shuttle bay at the bow, he nodded to a Tellarite technician he knew as she entered the shuttle bay. Glancing inside he could see a single shuttle sat in bits as various crew-members worked on it, the deck looking like a large jigsaw puzzle.
He cut down the pace to a gentle jog as he continued down the starboard side of the ship, noting with not a little pride he was still keeping his fitness at a reasonable level compared to some of the other fresh recruits to the Ogawa. Gordon slowed to a walk before entering another Jeffries tube hatchway, the rough grating reassuringly gripping his sweaty hands as he crawled along the tube to the ladder. With effort he climbed up the ladder, making sure he didn’t exit onto Deck 3 as that was purely officer country. After what felt like forever he pushed himself out onto Deck 2’s well trodden carpets, several crew and officers already filtering around the place even at this early hour.
