Danielle tilted her head with slight confusion as if she realized how her words must have sounded. “I don’t think Erika killed him!” she said with some alarm. Then she frowned.”She’s scary at times, but… yeah, no,” Damiselle added with a shake of her head. “Just… weird drama follows that woman and it somehow doesn’t surprise me that Losa somehow suffered because of it.”

Ana’s brows furrowed as she struggled to follow the cadet’s train of thought. “So who do you think killed him, then?” she asked, trying to steer her back to the topic at hand.

Danielle opened her mouth to say something but nothing came out. She shook her head. “I have no proof. Just a couple idle comments. And it’s not like Losa can corroborate them,” she said, a wave of sadness flashing over her face.

She leaned forward. “How do determine whether something is just someone’s frustrations being vented, or something to be really concerned about?”

Ana stared blankly at the cadet as she offered up her question and narrowly resisted the urge to take a giant step backward as she leaned forward into the psychiatrist’s personal space. “You tell me the idle comments,” she instructed and waited a beat, realizing that she should probably expand on that more. She began to let out a small sigh of annoyance but trapped it quickly as she expounded, “you take the information you have, you consider the source, and then you collect other data to see if there is an element of consistency.”

“I trust Losa. He’s my friend. He’s been a good friend to me. He just…” Damiselle shook her head and shrugged slightly. “He mentioned that someone had found out he was sort of seeing Erika on the down-low and was making him uncomfortable. I was pretty surprised he was involved with the Chief, but he seemed slightly upset and another conversation later he made a comment about Doctor Hendricks being a bit of a jerk to him.”

“Did he mention who had found out about it? Do you think it was Hendricks?” Ana questioned again, resisting the urge to roll her eyes at the entire drama unfolding in front of her. She knew that they needed to figure out what was going on with the Ogawa and how to resolve the situation, but dealing with the love affairs of potentially not actually real beings was not high on her list as items worth her time and attention.

Danielle shook her head. “He didn’t say, but he did say that he thought Hendricks was jealous of him being with Erika. Is that enough motive to kill someone? I don’t know. I do know that it wouldn’t be enough to pass the ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’ measure in a court.” It seemed that now that the young security ‘person’ had something to focus on, she was a great deal more calm.

Ana resisted letting out a sigh of relief as she noticed the cadet calming before her eyes. “So Losa thought that Hendricks was jealous of Losa’s relationship with Erika,” she repeated back, hoping that she had followed the dramatic story arc that the being was relating to her. “Do you have any other relevant information?”

The ‘security officer’ just shook her head. “No. I wish I did. Maybe then it would feel less like a punch to the gut. You don’t get many truly great friends like Losa in your life. I don’t know what I’m going to do without him,” she said softly, fighting back her stronger emotions.
