Sometime after the hustle and bustle of the ship had settled for her shift Willow recalled a passing conversation regarding her evaluation. She wanted to go back to her quarters and have a bath but she had promised. So dutifully she entered the suite and entering her details on the reception PaDD sat to wait to see if Ana was free.

The door to one of the interior offices slid open shortly and the uniform-encased form of Ana stood in the doorway. “Capt…” Her voice trailed off as she softly cleared her throat and then tried again in a louder tone. “Captain?”

“Hello.” Willow said cheerfully. “You mentioned I was due an eval, I just finished my duty shift and wondered if you had time. If you haven’t I can come back.”

The captain’s cheerfulness momentarily took the young psychiatrist aback and her black eyes widened slightly. It passed momentarily, however, and she nodded. “I have time now,” she replied simply and then led the way into her sparsely decorated interior office. She took a seat behind her desk, expecting but not inviting Taylor to sit in one of the chairs in front of it. “Is there anything in particular you would like to discuss, Captain?” she asked, launching right into the evaluation as she slid her glass jar of brightly colored lollipops across the desk. She caught herself as she finished the question, however, and then added, “would you like anything to drink?” The expectation of providing a beverage at the beginning of these meetings always slipped her mind.

Willow followed and sank into the chair opposite Darren. She watched the jar of sweets a second then reached for it, looking for a blue one she popped it into her mouth and pondered the question. “I’m happy to discuss anything you’d like Doctor, my fitness for duty is one element of my mental health but not the entire thing so whatever you think is best to discuss.” She shook her head at offer of a drink “no thank you, the lollipop is good for now,”
