Tressex left the CSO’s office and began furiously building a containment vessel for the specimens in the relay. While he was no biologist, he did have the idea that if the mother subject and her children found that particular area of the ship suitable, he would have to replicate that environment as closely as possible. He first scanned the area and got current temperature, humidity, and lighting parameters. The comfort of the creature was of paramount importance, and Tressex got the impression from T’Pris that the mother was under some kind of duress. Once the container was done, Tressex applied a filter on the outside of the glass to keep the light as close to the inside of the relay as possible. The whole construction took approximately half and hour. He then coordinated with the Transporter room to lock onto the unknown life forms in the relay and beam them directly to the container.

As soon as it was complete, Tressex tapped his commbadge. =/\= Tressex to T’Pris. Isolation container is prepped and ready. I have duplicated the temperature, humidity, and lighting of the area you are in. Commencing beam out… now. =/\= and he sent the signal to the transporter operator. The familiar shimmer of the transporter working around the mother and the offspring appeared, intensified, and they were gone from the relay; appearing inside the closed container. Tressex immediately began running scans and trying to identify the life form. As he did so, he contacted the Transporter Room. =/\= Tressex to Transporter. The creature was definitely a Gastropod-like being, but with the more developed brain and the fact that T’Pris had sensed emotion from it, it was clearly sentient. Its vitals were rather low right now, but matched a bradymetabolism. Given the apparent state of duress, it seemed like the mother had been forced to drop her metabolism in order to survive. Most likely she hadn’t been able to find a food source, but had managed to keep herself going at least through the warmth found in the relays.

Tressex looked at the being and checked the scans as they showed the results. He then began to check and see if there was any indication of vocal capabilities, larynx and such, developed inside their new acquaintance.
