He continued to scan the room for any traces of the being as he spoke, “Now the Captain says their are more issues like this on the ship? I’m no psychiatrist, but it sounds more like mass psychosis than an intruder so yes, in the absence of real evidence I present disbelief.” Looking at her, there was a smirk in his eyes, “The sugar content of the candy is at least a real and measurable danger.”
Lt j.g. Khauv, Security
Ana’s head snapped up as Khauv mentioned the word “psychosis.” She hadn’t considered the possibility before, but with the news that there were several of these… beings… around the ship made her ponder his suggestion, as much as she didn’t want to contemplate what that meant for her own mental stability. “Do you know if multiple people have seen the same person? That would make it unlikely to be psychosis…” she questioned, her eyes filling with curiosity as the focus on solving the issue at hand relieved her from the uncertainty of the situation she’d found herself in. Her focus had shifted such that she merely glared at Khauv as he insulted her lollipops once again and added, “I’ll throw a yam at you next time and show you a real and measurable danger.”

“I know as much as you, Doctor.” Khauv told her and then grinned. “But at least you are now out of the sulky-woe-is-me phase and have something to focus on, even if it is being angry at me for insulting your lollipops. Now you might be able to help me, right? Shall we go and look for this being in case it gives anyone else the same treatment? Only you can help me recognize it if my Tricorder doesn’t help.”
Drawing his Phaser, he checked the stun setting was on again and turned for the door.
Lt j.g. Khauv, Security
Ana’s teeth chomped down on her lower lip again as she watched Khauv draw his phaser, but finally let out an exasperated noise and nodded her assent. “All right, let’s go.” She followed him to the door, taking a deep breath and mentally recalling the image of the being that had surprised her in the office. Confident that she recalled what she looked like, she let Khauv pick a direction and followed him down the hallway, being sure to stay behind him but keeping her eyes open for the mysterious intruder.

Ahead of them, something small and black dashed along the corridor past where their section intersected.

Ana’s eyebrows furrowed behind Khauv as she saw the small, black object dash by. She hadn’t been able to get a good look at it, but it didn’t look like the handsome man who had interrupted her… but it was the best lead she had to convincing the security officer that she wasn’t crazy. Or, at least, if she was, the rest of the crew was crazy too. She nudged him in the shoulder from behind, perhaps a bit more firmly than required, and pointed in the direction of where the object had headed. “Follow it and see if you can get it,” she demanded as she forgot about her paranoia and scampered after, hoping the phaser-equipped lieutenant was close behind her.

The cat seemed to stop and then scampered off farther down the corridor and around another corner. A voice could be heard, cooing to the animal. “There you are…” It was a woman’s voice.
Around the corner, a woman dressed in a stylized blue uniform with flaming red hair stood there holding the cat and scratching it’s head. That cat was purring.
