Ana gave Duvosa a blank look at her question. “Well, no, doing boarding evaluation is my job…” she responded, her voice trailing off uncertainly as she rounded her desk to the safety of the chair. Not taking a seat yet, she collected her container of lollipops and held out the container as an offering to the lieutenant. “Here, would you like a lollipop?”

Lt Darren, Psychiatrist

“No,” Duvosa said abruptly. She then took in a slow deep breath and exhaled. “No, thank you.” She said more politely. She remained where she stood, by the doorway, continuing to eye Ana suspiciously. This was a jumpy one.

“Oh… okay…” Ana’s tentative voice trailed off as she awkwardly set the rejected container of lollipops back down onto her desk and sank back into her desk chair. The lollipops had seemed like such a good idea, but no one seemed to want to indulge in one. Mentally sighing, she looked at the security lieutenant who was still standing by the doorway. “Oh, come in, please have a seat,” she blurt out, indicating the regulation chairs in front of her desk. “How are you finding the Ogawa so far?”

Lt Darren, Psychiatrist

Duvosa slowly made her way to a chair and sat down. She was still giving Ana a bit of a curious glance, her eyebrow arched.

“I have only just arrived,” she admitted. “I have not had much time to explore or meet any of the crew. I am certain I will find it acceptable.”

“Is acceptable sufficient to you?” Ana questioned, her eyebrow mirroring Duvosa’s as she studied the security officer. “I mean, do you want more from life than simply acceptable?”

Lt Darren, Psychiatrist

Duvosa gave her shoulders a shrug. “I would much rather take acceptable over disappointment. Perhaps in time, I may find more reason for enjoyment. For now, I am here to do my job.”
