He shrugged. “Sure, why not. I’ll get to see you in action, and stay away from my office longer. Win-win.”
Lt. Cmdr. Dr. Brad Walker
Chief of StaffGesturing to the biobed that she had just vacated, Jessica’s green eyes danced as she repeated his earlier statement, “up you go!” After a firm pat on the now vacant bed, she fetched a medical tricorder and began some basic scans to check on Walker’s visual acuity.

With a grin, Brad jumped up onto the bed. The scans showed a slight decrease in vision in both eyes, 20/25 in the right and 20/30 in the left, but nothing serious. No cataracts or retinopathy.

Chief of StaffJessica studied the readings carefully and then looked at Walker, a slightly mournful look on her face, although a smirk crept around the edges of her lips. “Well, Doctor, I’m afraid I have to diagnose you with getting older,” she commented and then gave up the pretense of serious doctoring with a giggle. She turned the tricorder to show him the results of her scans. “I’d give you a treatment plan or an option of waiting and monitoring, but I think you know all of the options.” She added a wink to her light-hearted statement and then returned the tricorder to its correct location in Sickbay. Returning her attention to Walker, a slightly flirtatious hint made its way into her smile as she questioned, “so do I pass? Will you keep me?”

“With flying colors… The ones I can still see, at any rate,” Brad joked back. “Yes, I think you’ll do great, especially if you’re as good with the kids as you are with my aging bones.”
Lt. Cmdr. Dr. Brad Walker
Chief of StaffJessica laughed heartily at Walker’s joke and extended a hand to help him down from the biobed. Her expression momentarily grew more serious as she commented, “I love kids,” with her love of her profession coming through even as her general demeanor was light-hearted.
“We’ve got a wide range of them around,” Brad said. “A couple are surly teenagers, but there are a few that still have innocence and wonder.”
Jessica laughed at his surly teenagers comment. As the youngest of many , there was nothing a collection of rag tag Starfleet munchkins could throw at her.
“Anything else I can check out, old man, or will I see you around?” she asked, grinning once more.
Lieut (j.g.) Lemann
“I’m sure we’ll see a lot of each other, if I keep having to kick everyone else out. Give me a shout if you need the help, I’m always looking for an excuse to be Dr. Walker over Commander Walker,” Brad said.

Her grin widening even further, Jessica winked at Walker and questioned rhetorically, “who is this Commander Walker you speak of? I only see a Doctor Walker.” With that, she began a slow meander through Sickbay, familiarizing herself with her new home.
