Cai meanwhile sat in one of the unoccupied office spaces, cross legged on the floor with his two young charges before him. Classical music played from his mini PaDD.
“So this ones a little different, this is Johann Sebastian Bach. He was an orphan at age ten, but he is currently regarded as one of the greatest composers of earth.” He let the music play a bit and watched the kids.

Jessica visibly rolled her eyes at Marshall’s response and collected her two charges. She snuck a gentle arm around the mother, carefully avoiding the arm that she observed her holding gingerly, and led the pair over to the nearby biobed. Knowing that the mother would want to see her child treated first, she helped boost him up and grabbed the medical tricorder that was nearby. Twirling it around a few times, she flipped it open with a grin at the child and focused on examining him for the head injury that his mother insisted upon. She could hear Cai’s music in the background and swayed slightly to it as she took care of her patient.
“That’s a nasty gash, how did you get it?” she asked idly as the scans completed, revealing that there was nothing more serious than the visible gash on his forehead. She grabbed a dermal regenerator and showed it to the child. “This will let me fix that cut on your head and then you’ll be good as new. It doesn’t hurt, I promise,” she explained, a sweet smile on her delicate features. She gently moved the device over the gash and then leaned back to survey her work. “Good as new,” she commented with a smile.

OOC: I forgot to add that I’ll either circle back to this in a few days or someone can jump in. I don’t like talking to myself. <G>
The mother chimed in, “Are you sure he doesn’t have a concussion?”
Meanwhile, Drake walked into an isolation room. He’d only just settled on staying, but he couldn’t wrestle with this feeling of isolation present in sickbay. He didn’t feel right, but he didn’t want to leave. Ember was here. And something kept him from putting in transfer papers. “Doctor Marshall?”
“Yeah. I’ll be right out.” Break time is over.-Dr Drake Marshall
“I’m very sure,” Jessica responded to the mother with a patient smile. “While that gash certainly looks nasty, my scans and my physical evaluation show no signs of a concussion. I bet that it was quite the scary bump, though.” She gave the younger patient a slight squeeze. “Could I take a look at that arm now, ma’am?” she asked politely. “It looks like you took a pretty good bump yourself.”
Lieut (j.g.) Lemann
She seemed satisfied. For the moment. “When the ship lurched, I tripped over the edge of the bed and this happened.” She revealed a compound fracture. “They always say not to catch yourself like that or you’ll break your arm like this. The pain was a lot more… manageable when I had Henry to worry about.”
Jessica hummed sympathetically at the woman as she assessed the fracture visually before repeating the process with the medical tricorder. “You know, they always say that, but I think our first instinct is to try to catch ourselves,” she commented with a grin and then turned to the nearby supplies. Locating a moderately strong analgesic, she set up the hypospray and carefully injected it into the woman’s neck. “This should help with the pain a bit, although you’ll want to hang out here so we can keep an eye on you both for a while. Now let’s see what we can do about that arm.”
Fetching the osteogenic stimulator and a dermal regenerator, Jessica’s small hands gently manipulated the woman’s arm and then moved the tools over it, stopping periodically to check on the progress of the repair. Finally, after many moments of careful work, she stepped back. “That should be good as new,” she commented, a hand comfortingly touching the woman’s shoulder. “Once the pain medication wears off, let me know if you have any lingering pain, but for now, make yourself comfortable for a few moments and rest with your son.”
Drake was dealing with a Security NE with a dislocated shoulder. “You’ve probably done this before, so you know it’s easily fixable, but it’s not going to be fun.”
-Dr Drake Marshall
Having settled her two patients enough and overhearing Drake, Jessica rolled her eyes and, snatching up a nearby hypospray, made her way over to the two. Smiling sweetly at Drake, she commented, “I’m sure you just forgot that this could make your patient more comfortable” and handed him the mild analgesic.
Lieut (j.g.) Lemann
“Been there done that. But…” he set the shoulder. “There’s only so much you can do.” He looked to his patient and started putting the arm into a sling. “You’ll need a little PT, but you’ll be fine.” The young man moved off, yielding his biobed for the next customer. “I don’t know if you’ve ever dislocated anything. Analgesics only do so much.” Yelchin popped up behind them. “Reid is waking up. First movement tests when you get there.”
“If you’ll excuse me.” Drake didn’t wait for an answer.“Ensign Reid?”
“Doctor Reid.” Drake arched an eyebrow. “Dr Reid. How’s recovery?”
“I feel like I broke my back.”
“I think I can tell you why that is. You did.” They conducted a series of nervous function and movement tests. Dr Reid passed all of them. Drake logged the first practical application of his surgery.-Dr Drake Marshall
=^= All hands, this is the Captain. Due to an unforeseen course correction we have found ourselves in a spacial anomaly that we are seeking to rectify. We also seem to have somehow picked up some extra passengers. If you encounter anyone you do not know please notify the bridge immediately. All Duty Personnel report to your stations, civilians report to sickbay. Section and Department heads take stock of your staff and report to the bridge.=^=

Drake looked up at the Captain’s disembodied voice. Before this mission, that would’ve meant nothing to him. “Crap.” He ran over to Lemann. “I have to go to the bridge. That leaves you ranking on deck. Well, tied with McKnight, but he’ll be in surgery most of the time. Anyway, good luck.”
He headed for the doors. This was the downside.
